Well well, what jarred his "memory" and when? How long has he known that this was not true? Why did he not correct the record before?

Is this how the press is going to let Kerry skate - by phoning in his answers to the New Yorker (wedging them into the "Talk of the Twon" column, maybe)? So will the media report his correction? If so, will they just deliver it as rote, as gospel? Or will this finally open the door for someone in the mainstream press with some go-nards to do some investigative reporting?

What we see in the next few days will tell us just how bought and paid for the media is this election, and whether they have traded in their notepads for kneepads.

It's not that way. Journalists all swear to each other's "objectivity" because they're afraid to pick a fight with the rest of the journalists. And liberal politiicans herd right along with the gutless journalists. No money changes hands, it's just that everyone gets along and goes along.

It practically takes Ronald Wilson Reagan to make things real. GWB has his hands full.

In one of the Boston newspapers Kerry was referred to as an Irishman and he let that lie ride for years in order to garner the Irish vote in Massachusetts...I've always thought that the Republicans should run an ad that has "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" as the theme music and then let the media discuss the reason for the musical choice (FNC could start the ball rolling)... Kerry's failure to correct the record in this regard would put his political opportunism in context.
