"Exploding the myth that brave Kerry said "send me!" to the fight... in his own words!"
Another Kerry myth exploded!
Someone sent me an e-mail that claimed that Kerry could not get into grad school, thus the year studying in Paris was his only hope of avoiding the draft. So, he joined the Navy. His grades were reportedly a low C average, lower than GW Bush's grades.
I just remembered that all draft age young men were ordered to take a test in the fall of 1965 to see if they were smart enough to be in college, and if you didn't take the test you were immediately made draft elligible and ordered not to leave the country. Maybe this figured into the Kerry request being turned down. The test was later declared unconstitutional or something, but my husband still managed to get caught up in it, as he was out of the country in 1965/66.
