I was thinking back about a few incidents of Muslims in the military working for the other side (ranging from the one who threw a grenade into the tent in Iraq to the chaplain who was spying at Guantanamo).

The chaplain probably gave up some information (60 days in the Charleston brig no doubt made him willing to chat), in exchange for which charges were reduced and eventually dropped and he was allowed to resign. The fragger is about to go to trial, and he says he is being persecuted just for being a Muslim, of course, despite the fact that he admitted killing those people.

Then there was the man who died on a helicopter that crashed in Iraq (he was a helicopter mechanic, there seemed to be some suspicion that he had sabotaged the helicopter, since he had to be forced at the last minute to ride along because they were short a crew member). There was also the Muslim convert in Washington State who had been in the reserves, IIRC, who was offering to provide information on our tanks to AQ. And then of course there was the mysterious "kidnapping" of the Muslim Marine, which is still under investigation.

I suppose there are many we never hear about. I hope in this case that they publicize it, really punish him (hanging would be good), and make it clear that this will not be tolerated.

If I were in the military, I would be very uneasy serving with Muslims and I would like to see that the military was doing more to protect its own forces from betrayal. I honestly don't feel that Muslims (and this includes Black Muslims) can be trusted.
