Personally, I think the temporary dust-up is a good compromise. Millions of people will have seen the ad. Millions will see Hannity tonight. Millions have had their suspicions raised that Kerry is a dishonest man because of this ad. But to linger on this issue is, indeed, politically dangerous. And his dishonety can be attacked on a lot of other fronts. This seed has been planted. We should now busy ourselves with planting still others. That's just my guy feeling. I am sure many will disagree. But tell me why.

Pre-empting terrorists.......good or bad?

Don't want to get them riled up, right?

If it is true then that is all that counts. The political ramifications of a private group of citizens expresseing their views is secondary. I happen to believe that the truth can not be harmful to this president. If the enemy spins this and influences the people than the people deserve the government they get.

I think people should see the ad because its the only thing on which he is running, not the 35 years since that time.

Oops left out his hamster mouth to mouth.

If it hurt President Bush, the DNC would not be trying to keep it off the air.

These guys are not being paid by President Bush's political campaign so they have a right to question the lies of F'n Kerry. Maybe this story may get traction.

Are you kidding, Kerry has staked his WHOLE campaign on his war experience. If you can show this is a lie, it will be hurt. There will still be a big anti-Bush vote for Kerry, but it the details about Kerry's heroic service turn into an embarrassment, it will Dan Quayle him.

The truth never hurts . . . when it gets out. I am not sure it is possible to get this truth out there without, as you say, it being destroyed by "the spin." It is my government too. And I am more and more a realist than an idealist in these things.

It would definitely be bad for Bush to endorse this ad. He has no way to confirm the accuracy of the statements.

On the other hand, it will simmer under the surface and provide a launching point for a discussion of Kerry's senate voting record.

Hey, if Kerry wants to play the Vietnam game, he plays the game all the way...right?

You know, I wasn't sure before, but if Dick Morris thinks it's bad, it's probably good.

Krauthammer thought it would hurt, and he's usually pretty balanced. Fred Barnes didn't see it as a negative for Bush.

But unless some mainstream media types take the time to invetigate it, it won't get much traction, IMHO.

Hannity just showed the Ad. It is getting NATIONAL AIR PLAY...this will run for days on end.

One of the vets in the ad is also on Hannity TV now...re-iterating the story and what happend. Van Odell.

He was there for 3 of the 4 months.

Susan ESTRICH has to INTERRUPT Van during his story to Sean.
She's trying to hit on the DNC talking points--you didn't serve on Kerry's boat, the medical guy didn't sign the medical form, did YOU pay for the ad or did a RICH Republican? She's a STINKING FILTH DNC SHILL!!

Van stuck to his guns...told Susan to SHOVE IT!

Estrich says..."Sorry to see you doing this..."

I think it helps. (Well, at least for those people who are paying attention.) Kerry has got to be called on his lies, and I'm really glad to see that the "seed has been planted," because just about everything Kerry has said in this campaign has been a lie.

As for the truths he doesn't want to discuss (his no-show record in the Senate, his consistent support for America-haters everywhere), there will be time to bring this out. The Dems blew it on this one - I hope he lives long enough to make it to the election.

Bush has already distanced himself.

The truth is now out there floating around, no matter WHO put it out there.

The damage is done.

If it gets 5% of the electorate to doubt Kerry, it's devastating to Kerry.

"it will simmer under the surface and provide a launching point for a discussion of Kerry's senate voting record."

Yes, my point exactly. Maybe it is best to let it "simmer" as apposed to "boil over," and lead us into the investigation of other lies and fraudulent statements by Kerry.

You know what hurt Gore more than anything was the ridicule he got from the 'I invented the internet' stuff. Ridicule kills in politics. No one votes for the butt of jokes.
