"Kerry has always said that he committed attrocities. This isn't news."

- Yeah, but did he ever tell us that he got his medals for doing so? THATS NEWS!

Otherwise, he remains a POW survivor. I don't mean to diminish the horror of being a POW and McCain certainly deserves respect for suffering the experience, but surviving a bad experience in war time does not equal heroism.

I believe McCain himself has made that point.

According to his wife of 8 years, sKerry STILL has screaming nightmares of Viet Nam.."Down...Down...Down"!! thats what SHE says he does...

I have a visual of what he is really saying to Theresa, and what he is really saying is HER NIGHTMARE!!! DOWN-DOWN, etc.

"I hope the Bush camp ignores this stuff. "

- I strongly disagree. Kerry's handlers are already trying to tie the Bush campaign to the Vets testimony and label it a "dirty trick". Bush has got to immediately distance himself from the story by saying he neither funded or encouraged it, and that it would be a great shame- if true. This is what Lurch has been saying all along on the AWOL story. Bush cannot remain silent - the MSM would take it as an admission of guilt.

-- a book the Kerry camapign believes is the"the dirtiest of all dirty tricks ever played on a candidate for the presidency."

I guess they forgot the "Daisy" ad run by the Democrat who Forbesed up the Vietnam War. Or MoveOn.org's remake of it in conjunction with operation Iraqi Freedom.

The original LBJ ad can be viewed Here

This story will have legs - this is only the first installment that Drudge is excerpting over the coming days. Still to come are the stories from POW's in North Vietnam who were forced to listen to Kerry's testimony after he got back to the US and admit that they too were similarly guilty of war crimes. There are also more stories of undeserved medals still to come. Kerry will be forced to authorize the release of all his service records to refute the charges. If he doesn't, he's toast and if he does, he's still toast.
Bwahahahah!

- Then again, maybe Slick once told him that you had to be forceful with chicks if he wanted to have his very own Monica experience and he was trying it out on Teresa to see if the advice would work. Teresa just misunderstood, is all.

The establishment media will do the same "bob and weave" here ... their goal is ABB ... "Anybody But Bush."

Actually "anybody but a Republican the right of John McCain.". Liar, traitor, criminal, they don't care, just as long as it's not a "right winger".

transferred to a ship far from the war zone).

Actually to a staff job back in the US. He was on a destroyer, where he was the Public Affairs Officer, before he became a Swift boat CO.

I did not know McCain acknowledged his being a survivor, as opposed to a hero. If he did, I will elevate my impression of him. My response comes from someone like McCain entering the fray of discussion where he defends Kerry at the expense of other veterans. Kerry is a disgrace to the uniform he once wore and McCain is wrong to support him.

""Senator Kerry, in Congressional testimony you told us you committed atrocities and war crimes. Now you tell us these swiftboat veterans who agree with you are lying. Which is it Senator Kerry? Were you lying then, or are you lying now?"

- MAJOR PING!!!! YES, YES, YES!!
Kerry Headquarters - Memo to Staff:
Do not, repeat, do not allow the Senator to accept any campaign appearances at military bases for the remainder of the campaign.)

I'm convinced the main reason Hanoi John protested the Viet Nam war was because the war gave him the opportunity to reveal a side of himself that he didn't like.

These days, having married TaRAYzah, he probably hates what he sees in the mirror now as much as ever.

Thanks for the ping.

"I'll bet Hunt is close to the top of the list when the talking points are faxed! (I think there's a thread on Hunt's column, under the title "Sham Charges Against a War Hero.")

- Perhaps someone should send an e-mail to Hunt questioning on what basis is he alleging that so many decorated Vietnam veterans are liars. Also, which ones and what were their lies - be specific,Hunt.

Kerry has always clarified that remark by saying that just engaging in a fight in a free fire zone goes against the Geneva convention rules of war...he has always kept it very general...he has never implied that he killed someone close up and personal. Big difference between collective responsibility and personal responsibility IMHO.

One thought I do have is about both his wives saying that he wakes up with night terrors...maybe the killing of this guy haunts him and maybe his anti-war stance was genuine but he should have left out the accusations against our soldiers and he should be honest with us now instead of trying to obscure his own record. I had decided that he was a major liar when he kept calling Vietnam Nixon's war...hello...what about JFK and Johnson? The Democrats conveniently forget their own history.

The thing I really don't get about McCain in all this is why he backs Kerry when Kerry was selling him and the rest of his fellow POWs down the river after Kerry came back.

I suspect a job offer for McCain in a Kerry administration. Secretary of Defense perhaps?
