I guess you could dip the sock in pig fat before you flew....just for added effect...and let the goblin know you have a pig lard dipped sock on and you know how to use it!
Or better yet, make it the bar of soap out of pig, rather than beef lard.
Or you could use soap made from pig fat (lard) and lye. My grandmother made her own soap, but only used it for laundry, and for grandpa, and herself if she'd been working outside, to wash his hands. For bathing (every Saturday night wether they needed it or not!) they used "store bought", specially made for hard water.
