I think you're right. They were termed "killer" long ago, can't remember the story now, but it's not an appropriate name for them.

Don't know enough about them to know what they feed on though. But it seems they're just in the wrong place, and it's causing some comment.

Keep an eye on the Discovery Channel. If you've ever seen them eat sea lions you'd let them have the "Killer" title! They actually bat the baby sea lions thru the air to each other before gulping them down. They've been known to surge up on the beach to gobble a seal and then wriggle off into the water again.
