Why Kerry will lose -- the coming Democratic implosion
Red State ^ | 29 July 2004 | Tacitus

Posted on 07/29/2004 6:42:41 PM PDT by silmaril

Unlike the other two Red State founders -- who are, let it be acknowledged, far more savvy about the political process than I am -- I've been a pessimist about the President's reelection chances for some time. I note that I am not among those who want the reelection to founder, the reason for which is summed up in four words: Supreme Court judicial retirements. That being said, the reelect bellwethers are not wholly positive. For all its progress, the casual observer of the news (which is to say, most Americans) will still note the continuing slaughter in Iraq; and the economy is hardly back to roaring. Surely it would not be difficult for the Democrats to get their act together and present a reasonable-seeming alternative -- leftist, of course, but also forward-looking and pragmatic. Surely they could capitalize upon the parlous state of the President's poll numbers, which presently yield a neck and neck electoral map, and eke out a win. Surely the DNC would show whether and how far they have come toward that goal.

Well, the DNC is upon us. And it's safe to say that they haven't come far at all. If anything, they've gone backwards. Read on.

Unlike the other two Red State founders.....

This whole "red state, blue state" nonsense is getting tiresome. First of all, in every election I can recall prior to 2000 the media had the GOP designated in blue and the Donkeys in (commie) red.........as it should be. And secondly, the vote in many states is too close to call, so labeling them before the election is ridiculous.

the continuing slaughter in Iraq; and the economy is hardly back to roaring.

Both statements are incorrect. It's not a "slaughter" in Iraq and the economy is indeed booming.

The DNC is going backwards. What year is it to them? 1964? 1968?

What about Terrorism, you know Osama, islamofacists with WMD?

We heard enough of this "quality healthcare" claptrap. I suppose we'll need some quality healthcare when they get a little of that Cyclosarin in a city or 2....i'daknow...

Only thing that matters is numbers in the voting booth.

We'll get more vets than the party of Donkeys & Jackasses.

Don't sweat the perfumed princes.

Don't worry. He has his small group, there are 250 men who served with him who are against him. You'll be seeing a lot of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in the next few months.

Kerry opened his speech with "This is John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty," whereupon he saluted. Can you believe it?

He's got thousands of us who didn't serve with him against him as well.

He has small group...

Small group or not, one wonders why they have such a different view of Kery than the majority of other vets who served with him?

It's a head scratcher to try to determine what year they are in. 1964 was LBJ, and he was the Great Society instigator. But definitely not 1968 because that was the time of Democrats like Hubert Humphrey. Humphrey would be appalled at the present day extremists. If anything, these people are either in 1976 or 1992, at the beginning of the Clinton crime organization.

They stuck every vet in the entire country supporting Kerry on that stage.

Don't be depressed. Our convention is next and we need your energy.

My wife and I listened to The Breck Boy last night and realized he was 40 years late on his speech. It was a rousing, stirring speech, it just happened to be about a country that hasn't existed since the 1964.

It was so in 2000 as well, for the first day or so. I think they finally realized they looked so much like the CRBs they are -- RED leeches in a sea of blue -- they switched it.

Grrr.

IMHO katsup-boy will be scuttled to make way for hitlery, to make a move in 4 years. Remember that she and bozo still have a strangle hold on that party.

Don't get too cocky. It's gonna be a long hard haul, and the side who turns em out on election day wins.

Most of these vets did not actually serve with him - most are probably just Democrats supporting a Democratic canidate. Its actually kinda funny in that the Democrats know how weak they are on national security that they have to parade vets up on the stage to make themselves feel good about themselves. It's actually pretty silly IMHO.

What a self-absorbed, self-important arse. He didn't seem to bother "reporting for duty" as senator very often.

The writer makes some good points. I'm sorry to say I think they will be lost on a large number of voters. Doesn't matter though. Kerry will loose for a much simpler, direct reason. You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
