HOLY CRAP!

The chief should be dismissed and charged with violating the constitution (3 articles that I can think of off the top of my head), and every officer involved in the raid(s) firmly disciplined, if not also charged.

In addition, they should all be required to take a course at their own expense on the US Constitution.

If they can't get a US federal prosecutor to do it, I'm sure the NRA or GOA could find a lawyer or two to launch a major civil action.

I'm stunned by this!

There you go! Just like those traveling 'political correctness' seminars, have Constitutional Correctness services.

(Just cut me in for 5% on the first $20mil, and 2.5% after that. ;-)

The chief should be dismissed and charged with violating the constitution ... yada yada

Perhaps you should stop and take 10 slow breaths before believing the original article, which appears to be a hysterical and propaganda-laden screed written by whackjobs. Despite the heavy hints dropped by the news release, the cops didn't charge through the neighborhood demanding guns.

Instead, based on the news article (posted above), it appears that the police entered one (1) house, after having obtained a warrant to do so. If the article is accurate, it appears that the cops found what appears to be the weapon used in the shooting.

The real story is probably far closer to that in the news article than in the original shriek-piece.

The authors of the original piece would be well advised to STFU.

The problem is that these officers will not be sufficiently disciplined. The biggest form of the punishment will be the lawsuit, but that will come out of the taxpayers' pockets, not the officers'.

I would like to see these officers (and their bosses) fired, banned from all law enforcement employment, and required to repay the city of Oshkosh the full amount of the eventual settlement by having 50% of all future earnings garnished.

Then and only then would it serve as deterrence to prevent the next jack booted thuggery.

If they had gone out and gotten a individual court-order for each single citizen...then they might have a legal basis...but some blanket action like this? Its purely illegal and will wind up in court. My suggest for any citizen of Oshkosh who lost their weapon...don't take this into a lawyer...take it to small claims court and do it yourself. You don't need tens of thousands for this action. If 100 owners go into small claims court, and collect $2k each...they will have made their point and the cops will be out of $200k. Its fair and keeps the lawyers out of the mess.
