WNBC investigative reporter Scott Weinberger reported on Joe Scarborough's MSNBC show tonight that the 14 Syrians on Northwest Flight 327 ALL had expired visas. He said that law enforcement officials xeroxed the men's paperwork without looking at the dates. The visas had expired nearly a month earlier, according to Weinberger.
They acted pretty strange on a flight for legitimate musicians. If I had been on that plane, I'd have been near hysterical too.
Like someone on another thread said, if terrorists can learn to land planes, they can certainly learn to play instruments.

Thank you very much for the informative article. So they were legit musicians. I find other things still disturbing. The man who booked them from Anthem Artists thinks this is all ado about nothing. Not surprizing except that he is a PILOT. He should know better. And some of them were from Detroit--others were from Lebanon. It seems to me that if terrorists really want to be successful, they would use legit travelers already in this country to do their dirty work. It seems to me that was exactly what was happening. These men--all of them whose Visas are expired--should be sent back to their country of origin. TODAY!
I agree with both of your posts, 76 and 79. It is only going to get worse because standards have been lowered and are continuing to be lowered and I don't know if that can ever be reversed.
And thusly you have described the prototypical guardian of our borders. Canadians may have socialize medicine but they seem to have successfully beaten the socialism out of their homeland security departments. Flat bellies with armor and an attitude. That's what I saw coming into Canada recently. Coming back to the USA it was bathroom break bitching and doughnuts.

This refers to almost everyone in government employ. You see, no meaningful measures have or ever will be installed and enforced. It is all smoke and mirrors to make the sheeple feel safe. When someone says "Don't trade your freedoms for security, for you will get neither", you aught to pay close attention.
Border security is a bad joke. All it gets is lip service and meaningless PC policies that won't "offend" anyone.

If this were an alternate universe in which 9/11 had been perpetrated by a bunch of Irish Catholics who were mad at America's support of the Protestants, I wouldn't object to extra scrutiny while a Syrian gets a pass, for the simple reason that I wouldn't want the white guy next to me to blow up the plane.
The people who are whining about "profiling" are enabling the terrorists and as such are terrorists themselves.
