Scouting jetliners for new attacks
The Washington Times ^ | Audrey Hudson

Flight crews and air marshals say Middle Eastern men are staking out airports, probing security measures and conducting test runs aboard airplanes for a terrorist attack. At least two midflight incidents have involved numerous men of Middle Eastern descent behaving in what one pilot called "stereotypical" behavior of an organized attempt to attack a plane.

If I recall correctly, no. Mainly because the stewardess was not buckled and got sucked out of the plane, 30,000+ feet to fish food. No stewardess, no one to serve the goodies....

Lazy damned people. GET UP AND FIX YER OWN FRICKIN DRINKS.

I hate people sometimes.

What angers me is that the government knows this crap is going on and refuses to do a damm thing about it.

How could you possibly know what the government is doing? I suspect there is a great deal of activity behind the scenes that you are clueless about. How do you know that these weren't government agents acting this way to test an air marshall or passenger reaction? The government must be doing something right or we would have had many more attacks over the past three years.

Good point. I wondered myself. How can these clowns get away with these antics - although people will just say that eating McDonald's and going to bathroom are normal; my take is that taking your finger and running it across your throat and things like that are not normal. All I know is if I was on a plane and there were more than one or two people that looked like potential terrorists to me, I'd be freaking out - let alone 6 or 14. They'd have to strait-jacket me that's for sure. I'm little but really, really feisty.

Gosh, maybe a law should be passed requiring airlines to provide a prayer room for their Muslim passengers on each airplane. Think that would pacify them???

(though obvious in retrospect)

Silly observation. Isn't everything obvious in retrospect?

One shot through a window and that plane is gone

Overstated. The explosive decompression stuff you see is hollywierd special effects.

Remember a bomb went off in a 747 cargo compartment and blew out the side just ahead of the wing root. Only the passengers immediately adjacent to the blowout and an unrestrained flight attendant were extracted from the aircraft, the passengers still strapped in their seats.

In another unrelated case, the cargo doors of DC 10s had a nasty habit of blowing open in flight. It did bring one plane down but another survived while the entire rear deck structure sagged but didn't give way.

Finally, remember the Aloha Airlines 737 that popped its top? Some people died when extracted but the plane made a safe landing.

A bullet in the window or fuselage will just make an annoying whistle.

There's no room in a plane. Maybe an area just outside would do.

"How could you possibly know what the government is doing?"

Are we allowed to speculate based on experience?

Some guy did a google search and found the casino where the musicians/syrians did have a gig...so what. Doesn't mean their day jobs can't be as terrorists. These people are smart, patient and know how to work around our system of PC and cultural habits. God help us all.

There are probably alot of things going on behind the scenes that we can't know about because it's classified stuff. Certainly the deployment of FAM's is a highly sensitive bit of info, as are specific date the crew is supposed to take. I'd not be suprised to see Navy SEALS on flights that have a high risk of being hijacked. Especially if intelligence shows soemthing is afoot. There are likely some very lethal force options available to SEALS/Special Forces that can take out subjects without puching a hole in the fusalage. Perhaps a lethal version of a Tazer, My concern is one FAM is NOT going to be able to control multiple hijackers on a plane. The citizens need to stand up and fight like demons...no mercy, no quarter - take the enemy out as swiftly, and a violently as possible - in so doing we send a signal to terroists that the only ones that are going to die on a hijack attempt ar the terrorists.

I'm confident Bush doesn't have strange Mid Easterners wandering around on Air Force One. He should expect the rest of us to put up with this bull sh*t.

How could anyone outside of government know what the government is doing. Apparently there are more than a few in government that dont know whats happening as well.

From big government's track record I am not very optimistic about anything they do.

And how do you know these were government agents and not genuine terrorists?

Reports like this are disturbing to say the least.
