Former president Bill Clinton defends his embattled national security advisor as a man who "always got things right," even if his desk was a mess.
"We were all laughing about it," Clinton said about the investigation into Sandy Berger for taking classified terrorism documents from the National Archives. "People who don't know him might find it hard to believe. But ... all of us who've been in his office have always found him buried beneath papers."

DRUDGE has learned: In an interview set for publication Wednesday in the DENVER POST, Clinton questions the timing of the Berger flap less than a week before the Democratic National Convention and two days before a presidential commission is slated to release its final report on the Bush administration's handling of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Clinton tells the POST he has known about the federal probe of Berger's actions for several months, calling the news a "non-story."
"I wish I knew who leaked it. It's interesting timing," he added.
"I feel terrible for Sandy. But I just believe his explanation because I know how much he cared about this ... terrorism business," Clinton said, describing his former security advisor as a "workaholic" who has "always been up to his ears in papers."

Clinton thinks it is funny because Berger destroyed the evidence which incriminated the Toon.
Kind of get this image of Satan laughing at his evil works. Yeah, even just losing top secret documents is a real side splitter.
If they are worried about the timing.............then who ever leaked it should have waited until October for the October Surpirse. They are really reaching here, and klintoon laughing about it???????? It shows he never took National Security and al qaeda seriouly. He is only showing his arse once again and his stupidity.
Is there anyone more inappropriate than Bill Clinton? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had something to do with this.

I just saw Sandy Burger on TV and HE didn't look at all like he had been laughing.

That was Peter Feldt or something like that. I hate him and always have to mute him eventually Did you notice how he kept interupting when Sean addressed Anne. He finally had to threaten him he would cut his mike off
I think this Berger story was initiated as a preemptive leak - by Berger.
Note the first reporter of the story had easy quotes from Bergers lawyer.
Certainly they wouldn't want the story to come near the election. Also, the 9/11 report might mention Berger's malfeasance - if it does, surely this leak was pre-planned to get it out of the way for Bush bashing based on the Report.

I think the American public's stomach will be turned by Clinton's statement.
Clinton is laughing that his NSA stole and distroyed some of the highest national security documents our country possessed. Not just once but twice.

clinton call this a "non-story". In defense of Sandy clinton says he know how much he cared about this ....."terrorism business". hmmm I think it also shows how much the clinton/clinton cared about the "terrorism business"
