WE Must Link Berger to Kerry campaign for the record

In any and ALL references to Sandy Berger we MUST rightfully link him to Kerry, NOT just Clinton!:

"[Kerry's] foreign-policy team, dominated by Sandy Berger..." www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5251332/site/newsweek June 28, 2004.

Thank you for saying it.

I see posters getting excited about the connection to Clinton while overlooking the fact that Berger has been acting as a security advisor to John Kerry.

Bill Clinton is a problem but he isn't the clear and present problem. all the headlines about the "former Clinton advisor" are only helping to distance the Kerry campaign from something that they were likely part of.

Depends on folks' priorities. If the priority is to win this election and defeat Kerry, people should be talking about Berger's connections to Kerry. If people are more concerned with tarring the reputation of a guy who left the White House 42 months ago, then talk about Clinton. I hope most of us prefer the former approach.

CNN has put up a revised story - the first one barely mentioned the Kerry connection in the last sentence.

This one states:
Rep. Duncan Hunter, the Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, told the Fox news channel Tuesday that Berger may have taken the documents to help Kerry's campaign.
"I've seen Sandy Berger's protestations and he's proclaimed his innocence and his good faith and said it was just a mistake -- he was just sloppy. I think we accept that," Hunter said.

Again, the pubbies are refusing to play hardball.

Bush is going to chop Kerry into pieces during the debates. No worry -- W will have plenty of questions for Kerry regarding Berger. Kerry might not answer any of Bush's questions re: Berger -- it doesn't matter, though -- the damage has been done to the Kerry campaign already. Should be fun to watch the debates.

From another thread:
"Officials with the Bush-Cheney campaign point out that Berger gave a surprise background briefing to reporters on Feb. 27 on behalf of the Kerry campaign, in which he outlined airline security issues apparently drawn from the now-missing classified memos Berger is accused of removing from the National Archives," FNC reported.

In a conference call with reporters before the speech, Kerry foreign policy advisor Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger said those remarks were not meant to embrace Bush's doctrine of launching preemptive attacks against states the U.S. views as a threat.

The Kerry campaign was planning to use the convention to try to show that because of his service in Vietnam, the Democrats can be trusted with national security.

Now, however, the Democrats will have to explain how their last National Security Advisor, and Kerry policy advisor, was caught stealing national security documents.

How does one trust our security to a thief of national security documents?

Meeting with Jewish leaders eases fears

John Kerry met privately with 50 Jewish leaders yesterday amid concerns about whom he would pick as a Mideast envoy and his stand on Israel's security, sources said.

The Democratic front-runner assured the group that, contrary to a speech he gave in December, he wouldn't seek out former President Jimmy Carter or former Secretary of State James Baker as his envoys, sources said.

Both men are perceived as tilting against Israel, and Kerry's speech touched off concern among Jewish leaders at the time. Instead, Kerry offered up the names of Sandy Berger, Richard Holbrooke and Dennis Ross.
