WHAH? How long does it take to find out a guy put top secret documents in his socks? Why? Why is this coming out now? Why? Why didn't it come out before he and Clinton went before the Committee. I was pissed before, now I am INCENSED.

Hmmm...so as to not arouse any suspicions in case they had to widen the investigation?

Republicans play nice. Democrats play politics.

Do these investigations ever widen? No.

They just peter out.

I don't know...insiders had to know. Could it be they wanted Clarke's book to make as big of an impact as possible before revealing all the notes he took of Clarke's? (I have that right, don't I? Some of the stuff he took was written by Clarke).

Why didn't it come out before he and Clinton went before the Committee.

Because the partisan demoncRATs on the 9/11 committee are directed to protect the Clintonistas and do all they can to destroy the Bush Administration - there was no value in letting such info. out - particularly given how much play their comrades in the media had over Bush + Cheney testifying together while ignoring the fact Clinton brought his consigliere Bruce Lindsey along with Sandy Burglar to join him during his testimony. Obviously, it's now clear, Burglar was tasked with destruction of all the incriminating documents he could get his hands on in the secret area of the National Archives, and then to join Clinton to coach him on what he could thus avoid having to say or admit during his testimony.

Now we know - it wasn't Bush who lied, Bush who knew as the liberal mantra goes - it's not confirmed as truth - JOE WILSON LIED & BERGER WHO KNEW!

Must be that "New Tone" in Washington I keep hearing about. Bet Martha Stewart wishes she had some of that directed her way.

The comittee could have given him too much cover if it was still investigating. Now that is is in its final writing phase, they can't protect him or themselves from the repercussions.

PS - the reason why this info came out this week - it's clear from the news coverage - is that Berger has been officially notified he's the target of a criminal investigation and his attorneys are beginning damage control. Such incident would imply an indictment is forthcoming & given the precedent with Ellsworth & the Pentagon Papers - Berger will undoubtedly do prison time.

It looks like (according to Drudge) some documents disappeared while he was reviewing them and the Archives made new copies and marked them. Then the new docs disappeared too. It looks like they were watching him the whole time.

Of course, you or I would be strip searched on the spot if we were witnessed in our public library stuffing non-circulated documents in our clothes. And then it would be straight to the poky for us.

One of the stories I read today says that Berger was asked to review (steal) these docs for the Clintons -- and isn't it interesting that the docs were originally written by Clarke. Clarke was treated like a rack star when he testified at the Commission, yet they knew all about this theft.

I wonder if Ben Veniste, Kerrey, and Gorelick will be linked to this?

You wait to go public until the testimony is complete and the 9/11 book book by the committe and web site is hot. Then Sandy Berger and President Clinton can't change their testimony and try to embarass the Bush administration. They have the prior administration dead in their sites. I hope we see that Clinton and company covered up the 9-11 stuff and tried to blame Bush for it happening. Now that would cause a Ground swell of Bush support.

The bigger question is : Why didn't Sandy "Burgler" let anyone at the DNC know ahead of time what might be coming down......hmmmmmmmm????? Seems he could have given them a "heads up" months ago.......

Also, this could be just a taste of the "surprises" in store for the Dems as the election gets closer. If I were a Dem I'd be trembling in my boots right now.....y'all don't want to play poker with GW....he knows how to hold em'..........

I disagree ... while you are nearly there ... Republicans "roll over" it more to the point.

What seems to be missing for you is very simple - damned if you do and damned if you don't ... well, Hell's Bells ... if it moves ... Kill It, otherwise ... Paint It!!!

I'll tell you what pisses me off -- I just heard a quote from Tom Daschle about "someone obviously LEAKED this". Hey, Little Tommy -- how about WHO COVERED IT UP?

Because the lame stream media isn't dong it's job. Investigations are supposed to be kept quiet with the typical no comment...This guy ought to go to jail!!!! NO ONE is allowed to remove ANYTHING from a supervised reading room. I hope it all comes out and that he is shown to be the lying cheating weasel that he truly is.

IOW, it is entirely possible that Berger and his lawyer chose to "leak" this information to the media themselves pre-emptorily, so they could then blame the current evil, mean-spirited administration for it, and claim it was a "distraction" to cover up the findings of the 9/11 Commission, etc....

Funny how Ben Veniste keeps popping up. This is a far more serious burglary than Watergate.

What are you upset about?

We caught the bastard and set him up so deep that he had to admit guilt. Now Burger will get an opportunity to sing like a bird or spend the next 10 years in Prison.

Someday, someone on this board is going to have to accept that the Bush folks know what they are doing. If I was Sandy Burger, I would be right now begging to be put in Witness Protection.
