What is known is that Gill’s political patrons include Grover Norquist, who was listed by Gill as a reference on employment documents. After all, Gill had been a spokesman for the Taxpayers Alliance of Prince William County, Virginia, which is affiliated with Norquist’s group, Americans for Tax Reform. Gill had also worked in 2001 as director of government affairs for the Islamic Free Market Institute (also known as the Islamic Institute), whose founding president was Grover Norquist.

Interestingly, news articles published after September 11 described Gill in another capacity – as a spokesman for the controversial American Muslim Council (AMC). The AMC was founded and controlled by a prominent Islamist activist, Abdurahman Alamoudi. Alamoudi was indicted last October on terrorism-related money laundering charges. While in jail awaiting trial, he has reportedly engaged in plea-bargaining by confessing to participating in a Libyan plot to murder the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

For some reason, Gill is reported to have failed to list his work with the AMC on his “Standard Form 86” national security questionnaire. This is a potential felony violation of the full and truthful disclosure required by law of all applying for clearances.

According to two recently published articles in Salon.com, the FBI raised concerns last March about Gill’s non-disclosure of his ties to Alamoudi’s AMC. At the time, he was reportedly briefly removed from his position at DHS.

Calling the pro-terror, anti-Israel American Muslim Council controversial is an understatement. Even in the 2000 Elections, Hillary Clinton's campaign tried to launder an AMC contribution as coming from the "American Museum Council." When the "mistake" was discovered, the Clinton campaign returned the contribution.

Yet Grover Norquist continues to see fit to mentor AMC recruits like Islamic Institute co-founder Kahled Saffuri and Faisal Gill, and help them infiltrate the circles of power in Washington, D.C.

What's most problematic is that Salon.com now has the story. While not widely read, Salon has credibility on the Left, and more stories from more mainstream sources will follow. If the Democrats aren't totally inept, they may be able to captialize on Norquist's many pro-terror ties (like Saffuri, Alamoudi, Sami Al Arian, etc.) and use them against President Bush.

This is a scenario that Frank Gaffney has done yeoman's work in trying to avert, as those of us who've been following this story for the past year and a half are aware. Ties to Norquist should have been cut some time ago, and the Right would have gotten credit for cleaning our own house. Instead, those beholden to Norquist or hoping to capitalize on the access he might offer them decided to ignore the mountains of evidence of G. Grover's pro-terror affiliations, and here we are.

The AMC has a reputation of being more "moderate" than CAIR. Apparently, "moderation" is relative. If the AMC put me in charge, they would indeed be moderate. But I'm not in charge. And so it goes. Good research by the way.
