Unless he has the same staying power as Salon. Its backers are probably just keeping it up until the election is over.

Doesn't matter. The damage is already done, the big lie worked. The day you see "Press Lied in accusing Bush of Lying" in the majors' headlines, you can consider it a victory in this episode. That day will never come.

Money can prop almost anything up, and he of course will continue to make money telling a certain segment of the population what they want to hear.

But I suspect anyone who is still trying to get somewhere in the future will drop their connections with him fast.

Wilson deserves every attack for public dishonesty that comes his way. Valerie Plame deserves the same. So does Squid Blumenthal. And so does Jacoby. And lastly, why hasn't salon.com gpne under from the wieght of its unpaid debts?

Cheer up. The damage is not done. Goodness, what gloom.

Could it be that someone sitting in the Senate or married to someone in the Senate set this whole scam in motion????

I think names should be named. After all, the NYT prints rumors as news (i.e.: Cheney being replaced).

If the names happen to be wrong, we can use the excuse the leftists do -- BUT, OUR INTENTIONS WERE GOOD!

Libs are furiously denying the omelette that is all over their lying faces. They can wipe it off and eat it with their crow sandwich. Hey, Al Franken, about Joe Wilson, there's another lying liar you can add to your list.

It isn't quite gloom, I think the President will still win re-election. But that editor at Newsweak was right...the press is good for 15 points against Bush. They will have at least succeeded in turning a Reaganesque blowout into a fairly close run thing.

Elections are decided by 'the middle' they heard loud and clear that 'Bush lied' 'Bush Mislead the American people' 'those 16 words' and most of them will never hear or recognize that it was Bush who told the truth and his accusers and the press who were lying. The damage was done. It was not fatal, but it was damage.

Salon.com has a "defense" of Joe Wilson. For the most part, the piece is a dull, he-said she-said about the controversy so far, generally sympathetic to Wilson, with some sneaky bits hid in the dull prose in order to make them seem more reasonable. For example the author, Mary Jacoby, says "But no sale of uranium ever took place, Wilson reported, and that conclusion is not in dispute." That's true, but Bush never said Iraq purchased the uranium, he merely said Iraq sought it. Wilson said Iraq didn't and that his cryptic sweet-tea swilling conversations proved it. That's the part that's in dispute. Nobody sent Wilson to Africa because they thought Iraq actually obtained the uranium. This is a back-handed way of bolstering Wilson's "credibility" in an area where it was never questioned. Wilson, by the way, also contends that Africa is by and large a very hot contintent with many exotic animals. That conclusion is not in dispute either.

Mary Jacoby is the spouse of Fusion GPS's Glenn Simpson of the bogus Golden Showers / Trump Dossier

Makes me wonder if it might not just be Russians here but French intelligence meddling in US elections too.
