Has anyone mentioned this yet? Sorry if so, but the date in that first image is September 28, 2000, which when googled, turns out to be, among other things -- but the most pertinent that turned up quickly:

"Also on September 28, 2000, Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This visit became the pretext for instigating large scale demonstrations, the start of the al-Aqsa infifada."

Yes, I believe you are correct. The protest in the picture are from the 9/28/2000 Temple Mount incident. He is a different account of the incident.
