Just got back. I am feeling pretty ill- fever- so cancelled trip to New Haven today. Back in the library -
Regarding the list of cities--this is essentially the same list that was posted in April and once again in May or June.
IMO these are the guesstimated targets. I am going out on a limb here, but the following struck me:
"The NPRC mission is to provide vital emergency assistance to victims and communities affected by disaster, and to increase preparedness
IN THE AREAS OF GREATEST NEED BEFORE DISASTERS STRIKE."
Most of the cities listed are near bodies of water.
Many have been mentioned on AQ forums. (ex- Peoria and Philly)
Many don't make sense until you look at their potential strategic value:
ie
Fort Myers- centcom
Richmond- responsible for stockpiling and providing mil supplies to our troops
Stamford/Greenwich- NYC backup/CEO's
Military bases or large defense contractors nearby?
Thanks. Understand.
PLEASE take care of your health!
I don't have a clue about those cities you ask about.
Wish we could get a map with red ***'s for each of the listed cities. I deal with visuals better, I think.
Take care,
"Lowell boasts an impressive roster of businesses. Wang Laboratories, Coca-Cola, NYNEX, M/A-Com, and Courier Corporation call Lowell home, while Raytheon and Textron have divisions here too. In the environmental sector, three nationally prominent consulting and manufacturing companies, TRC Environmental, EUA Cogenex, and Leeman Laboratories are based here. Combined with long established companies like Colonial Gas and The Lowell Sun Publishing Company the outlook for Lowell's business community is extremely bright."

Beverly
Leominster MA
Lowell MA
Newburyport
Whittier
Newburyport and Beverly are on the coast north of Boston. People leaving Boston in a hurry would go through those towns up route 95. Lowell is northwest of Boston. Again, people leaving Boston in a hurry would go up Rte 93 in that direction. Similarly, Leominster is about an hour west of Boston, located on Rte 2.
Interestingly they don't list a city in MA that is located out the Mass Turnpike, i.e., Springfield, MA. It is close to Hartford and on Rte 91 - that highway would be very crowded from New Yorkers and Connecticute folks. For that reason Bostonians would probably head north or northwest.
