Backup electrical systems failed to kick in
A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained six days later.
Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The terrorist threat against the United States in the
run-up to the November election is as serious as at any time since the Sept.
11, 2001, attacks, acting CIA Director John McLaughlin said on Tuesday.
"This is about as serious a threat environment as I have seen since 9/11," said
McLaughlin, the deputy director who took over on Sunday pending
appointment of a permanent successor to Director George Tenet who resigned
amid criticism of the agency's performance.
"The quality of the information we have now is such that we have high confidence that the nation needs to
be on guard," McLaughlin told Reuters in a telephone interview.
He said the threats were not pinned specifically to the Democratic and Republican political conventions this
summer but to the whole period before the November presidential election.
"It's related to this period during which the country is exercising its democracy, it's this period particularly in
the run-up to the election, but it's always a mistake in the counterterrorism business to focus uniquely on a
date," McLaughlin said. The attackers would strike when they are ready and not because of a specific date,
he said.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts, a Kansas Republican, earlier on Tuesday told reporters
that "the chatter and the texture of the chatter is the highest it's been since 9/11." Chatter refers to
communications among terrorism suspects.
"There's a lot of members taking second thoughts about attending conventions," Roberts said, but added that
he planned to attend.
Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge renewed public warnings last week of possible attacks by al Qaeda in
the United States this year, but offered no details and said there were no plans to raise the terror threat
level.
"Credible reporting now indicates that al Qaeda is moving forward with its plans to carry out a large-scale
attack in the United States in an effort to disrupt our democratic process," Ridge said.

Looking at it now on CNN.
Thank you.
Apparently, (breaking news)
it appears it is a car bomb.
http://www.cnn.com
I don't think the pizza man was a suicide bomber. I believe the guy was abducted and had the bomb clamped on. He was used as a tool in a robbery then turned loose. His compliance in the robbery was likely based on a promise that the bomb would be removed at the completion of the operation. He was trying to get the device off his neck when it went off. It does have the earmarks of a foreign terrorist methodology.
I paid attention to a news report on the CT shootings tonight (I had been ignoring the story because of information overload). I wondered whether the CT shooting spree (a car, supposedly 2 shooters, random targets but all are minority males) is similar to the DC sniper spree. No one has been killed in CT and I hope it remains that way and that they catch the dudes (Yes, I am profiling here and it feels good!).
I wish the vermin would STFU.
Yes, I find this interesting Honestly.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't
Saad bin Laden still out and about?
If so, there's rumors over the years
off and on thatmhe has free movement
in Iran. True or not, I have no idea.

Drip, Drip, Drip More Oil for Food details leak out. When will the U.N. come clean?

Kofigate continues. Another stack of secret United Nations Oil for Food documents has now reached the press, this batch procured by congressional sources and providing--at long last--a better view of Saddam Hussein's entire U.N.-approved shopping list. This huge roster of Oil for Food relief contracts fills in a few more of the vital details about Saddam's "humanitarian" partnership with the U.N., spelling out the names of all his U.N.-approved relief suppliers and the price of every deal. We need no longer wonder which Russian company got the contracts, on the eve of war, in February 2003, to sell broadcasting gear...
That's interesting that you experienced this a few months ago. I just hope that you're protected in your internet research because I can imagine that you must visit sites that expose your computer to vulnerabilities. There have been a lot more cyber attacks over the past few days. Since we know this is one tactic those crazy SOBs are using to try and destabalize our economy and wreak havoc, I hope that being aware of these incidents will increase our ability to counter them.
I agree 100%,
Fallen angel? Isn't that the ricin person?
You're so right Selene.
...and besides, I'm getting my
hair done on the 14th, so bombs
do not fit into my schedule.
G'night, all - G'night, WCG. Believe it or not (probably you forgot all about it anyway) my survival nutrition and food list/rant will be done tomorrow and I should post it tomorrow night, if the creek don't rise and the homosexual trolls don't go cruisin for a bruisin like yesterday...
Thanks, all, for you hard work that I just absorb without contributing to.
I don't think Saad has been captured or killed, but could be mistaken. I believe it was Mansoor Ijaz who has said that the crew has been pretty much moving about freely in Iran.
Goodnight Little Jeremiah.
Sleep well.
Yes, that's what I read over the years.
What a shame.
If the U.S. got him; maybe some current
info regarding outstanding terrorists
could be obtained.
I know I will be too tired tomorrow to deal with anything.
Thanks Threat Matrix. I am having a hard time keeping up.
Night All.
Thank you, Cindy! May God keep and bless you and yours.
IMs are a big vulnerability for personal computer access.
I had many of files hidden on my computer before.
GoodNight
