Peace groups protest Twins' plan to give away G.I. Joe dolls
July 1, 2004 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Several peace groups are demanding the Minnesota Twins abandon plans to give G.I. Joe action figures to 5,000 children as part of a team promotion honoring local military personnel.
The Minnesota Twins will present Duke, ``the calm and determined battlefield commander of the G.I. Joe team,'' at Monday night's game against the Kansas City Royals in the first patriotic giveaway in the major leagues this season.
``I think the Twins are way off base with this idea,'' said John Varone, a Vietnam veteran and president of the Twin Cities chapter of Veterans for Peace. ``For gosh sakes, the last place we need to promote war is at our national pastime.''

I can see how some might not want their kids playing with dolls. I suggest the Twins provide military looking water guns or cap rifles as substitutes:')
I had the old foot-tall GI Joe with full equipment, and I've never killed anyone. Toy doll=killer shows a serious gap in logic.

Veterans for peace is a pro-communist, castro-loving bunch of Maxists. Each Nov. 11 they send a group to Cuba to honor communist veterans.

I still have mine that I got from my parents for Christmas when I was a child. Stands a foot tall, has fuzzy hair and fuzzy stubble beard, plastic Bowie knife, plastic machine gun rifle, cammo outfit, brown combat boots.
I am sure these are the same veterans who will be coming out for Kerry. Others of them will just "come out".
We need a counter protest, protesting those anti-military A**holes!!
Do you know how much plastic it would take to make a Michael Moore doll? I would think that some other suitable substitute would suffice. I don't think a Michael Moore doll is transportable using a conventional flatbed.
Just turn an armmed John Kerry loose on them. From what ive seen of his gun safety habits he's a real danger.
The Michael Moore doll comes with a complete set of pins for inserting in various places.
The John Kerry doll comes with two faces.
I can't remember how much I spent as a kid on G.I. Joe stuff, But I had one fine collection, that to this day I wish I still had!
Those things are worth some money on Ebay. I have one from childhood.
