John F'n has many skeletons in his closet, but the lieberals just look the other way. His big tour of duty in Nam with all his unearned medals...his behavior after the war...attending an assassination meeting...the list goes on.
If there's anything damaging in his divorce papers, he'll remain unscathed. He's a Teflon creep.

But .. what if Kerry unseals them and just produces copies ..?? How will we know if all the pages are there, or if any of the info has been altered ..??

Can't wait. I know that the liberals won't care what's in the records, I mean, look what Clinton did and they didn't care, but it may sway the undecided vote, knowwhatimean?

When someone actively seeks a public trust they can have no privacy. For how else can the public judge their fitness for that trust if not through their private dealings?

They could ask the same judge to unseal his records, and the judge would say "no". Rats are above the law.

I can imagine Kerry bunkered down in his posh $9.18 million Nantucket vacation home with news vans and satellite up-link dishes stacked like cord wood up and down his block. All will be waiting for his reaction to the revealed divorce papers. I can imagine the circus atmosphere, the bizarre T shirts, and the questions from Greta Susteren, Cathrine Crier, and Dan Abrams. This is exactly what John Kerry needs to put him back on the front page and on the top of the news. The Democrats are only praying that it will reveal some really juicy kinky sex. Sex sells.

What's in it is highly unlikely to hurt him. Remember the bimbo eruption in the spring? Democrats forgive and forget about their candidate's less than ideal sex life. Besides, anything really salacious can only boost his stock in the Party Of Clinton.

He's going to blame all of his problems on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from his time Viet Nam, call them medical records and we won't be able to see them under HIPPA.

Unfortunately, this could all be part of a plan. (no tinfoil here, just a "who knows?"...)

With the recent speculation that (shudder) Hillary may be added to the ticket as the presumptive veep nominee, it would not surprise me to see Kerry step (or be shoved) aside when democrats inexplicably & suddenly find their morals and sense of outrage at something discovered in the until-now sealed documents. With time running out, they'd have to come up with a replacement candidate right-quick, and who "better" than (shudder again) Hillary? The media would be orgasmic for weeks, shunting aside any desperate 11th hour attempts to expose her for what she really is.

Ewwwwww... EXPOSE Hillary??? My eyes, my eyes!!! Oh, the humanity...

Personally, I don't think running on Kerry's divorce records is a good idea, but the precedent has been set in the Ryan case. The Dems and the Press have made this kind of thing fair game-- to back off now would only prove that they're only interested in 'getting' Republicans (but when did that change?).

Personally, I think we have enough proof that Kerry's a selfish scumbag.

The one thing kerry doesn't want exposed is the amount of money he made his first wife give HIM.

My guess is that he never supported her or his children when they divorced.

Those records will never see the light of day. The MA courts will never release records that might embarrass a liberal politician, particularly one of their Senators. Remember that the official records of Ted Kennedy's little swim are still sealed.

Although I think it stinks to make anyone's divorce files public, since the Dems have played that card already, we might as well do it too.

What kind of man leaves his wife, but especially when she is in the midst of suicidal depression?

The author obviously has no idea what it is like to be married to someone who suffers from severe depression.

with Thorne in the depths of a severe depression and on the brink of suicide, which she blamed on her husband's cold and distant nature, his long absences and his fierce ambition (which she was bankrolling).

Also, it is typical for someone in depression to blame others for their situation.

Severe depression is a terrible thing to live through, whether you are the person experiencing it, or a loved one of the sufferer. Oftentimes it can be the result of a chemical imbalance, and not due to psychological or relationship issues. If the source were psychological, it is just as plausible that it was due to unresolved childhood issues as it was due to the marital relationship. It is unreasonable to blame this all on the husband, even if it is John Kerry.

He pushed ahead for the annulment even though it technically threw his daughters into the bizarre state of illegitimacy.

Nonsense. The Catholic church does not consider the children of annulled marriages to be in any way illegitimate.

Kerry has enough flaws as a candidate without needing to resort to psychoanalyzing the dynamics of a 20 year old failed marriage.

This pales in comparision to what full disclosure of the Kerry / Heintz tax returns will show.

But it will be a fun diversion til then....

I personally think these should remain sealed. I just don't think personal relationships, unless it points to some illegality, should be a part of any political campaign. It was wrong in the Ryan case and it is wrong for Kerry. If the morality, or lack therefore, of this move isn't enough, then the pragmatics don't make sense either. It will not convince anyone who wants Kerry to defeat Pres. Bush. It may strengthen us Bush supporters, but we're the choir anyway. We know he has no character. It may convince some swing voters that we're just nasty--these are people who probably never heard of Ryan, but will hear of this because the national media will jump all over it. Keep the documents sealed.
