Yes. Also, conservatives are too quick to assume that their careers, families, etc. are really at risk. In fact, they rarely are. Friendships may be made more complicated, and we will indeed lose a friend now and then if we're serious about expressing our conservative beliefs. But those shouldn't count as real losses.
It is high time our liberal friends, neighbors, whatever, worried about what WE think of THEM. Isn't this the right attitude to take, if we really believe in our principles?
An additional thought: If a liberal "friend" will end a friendship over politics, what kind of friend was he, really? Is such a friendship worth saving?
Probably hounded by NEA on a minute by minute basis!!!!

The Enemy Within!!!!
What is it that makes us so polite?
Well, I remember staying in to study while anti-war demonstrators rioted in the streets of my college in 1970. I was not political then, but I have learned since then that we have to speak out or they will run away with our country. I am a very squeaky conservative wheel. Still polite, usually, but much more assertive. And much better informed.
Indeed. It always astounds me how often a conservative seems to think that being assertive and open about his beliefs amounts to incivility. It's a cowardly, loser's attitude.
It's not easy even being a teacher, much less a Republican.
Bump!
