Wasn't it the Philippine conflict with the Moslem rebels that gave rise to The Magnum? Seem to recall the islamists would be doped up so much that only the newly issued Magnums would blow their heads off and stop their insane attacks. Someone care to elaborate if I'm mistaken.

"So were the Flower Wars just an exuse to enrich their diet with protein? really creepy. I always thought the sacrificied bodies went to feed the zoo, not people." Flowery Wars. All the God stuff was just fluff surrounding the need for protein. That's why capture was more important than killing...the meat starts going bad quickly when killed...when the meat is on the hoof, it stretches out the food resource. Sacrifice some daily rather than all at once.

Harris' point is correct about islamm and judaism's reasons for rejecting pork, but do not make any sense when talking about Hinduism's ban on the eating of beef. Firstly, Hindusim is mostly against the eating of any animal because it believes in reincarnation into different animals, so if you eating an animal you may be eating your great grand mother. Next, the cow is useful both as a pack animal and as a provider of milk, so must be preserved.

In the pre-Hindu period in India, during Vedic times,
That is interesting as in reality hinduism can't be defined as anything more than a meta-religion. Msot of the injunctions against the eating of meat seems to have come about after the advent of Buddhism.

Do the Indians today harvest milk from the cows? If not, wouldn't that weaken your argument?
Yes, they do still milk cows -- I think it's an important part of their economy in the northern part of hte Indian continent. however, the most important thing is that this rule was set in the days when milk was of paramount importance. Just as you rightly point out that eating pork in ancient times would have been a bit dangerous but is now perfectly safe.

Ah, the chicken and the egg controversy. Mostly the taboo started as a consequence of Buddhist ahimsa teachings.

Better yet, make certain the building was previously used as a slaughterhouse for pigs. That way they benefit from having the dung to go with it.

Tiger, Have you seen any discussion of pig-blood attacks on individual moslems?. When I walk through Itaewon, I am always surprised to see sandal-clad sheet-wearing moslems trekking down the hill from the Central Mosque. Seems like its only a matter of time before someone adapts a pig-blood filled
"Super Soaker" as a Weapon of Mass Damnation (WMD).

Re #193
No news of anybody doing it yet.

I think they did something similar to that in China... someone hung a pig's head up in a Muslim area about a year or two ago...
Caused a riot I think...

Re #195
I did not know that such a riot occurred recently in China. Thanks for letting me know.

I think it was several years ago now... not like last week or anything.
I am not sure if it could be classified as a 'riot' but needless to say they weren't happy.

Crazy for favoring the use of the only weapon on earth that casts fear and trembling into the breast's of militant Islomaniac terrorists ? Crazy like a fox, maybe.
Crazy is refusing to use this cheap, plentiful and effective weapon.
