After-freep report: John F. Kerry visits Wheeling, W.Va.

Wheeling's afternoon paper reported:
Nearly 1,000 people from across the Ohio Valley turned out this morning at Wheeling Park's White Palace to listen to Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry as he kicked off his "Jobs First Bus Tour" of four key election states...
--snip --
Okay, that's one account. Here's mine:
I arrived at Wheeling Park's White Palace around 8:30 a.m. and stood near the main driveway with my signs. One had photos of waffles and said, "Where do you stand today, John?" The other said, "John Kerry said, 'Our Democracy is a Farce,' Nov. 2, 1971 at Bethany College. Maybe he should run for president of China - or France?" I also had an old pair of flipflops, which I smacked together for effect.
Shortly after I set up, fellow freeper sonsofliberty2000 showed up with a fine sign with a drawing of flipflops and a related message. We stood in the cool, damp weather for a while before deciding to to closer to the building. We received a few rude remarks and middle digits (Democrat IQ readings).
After a little while, a woman approached and asked whether we'd seen the kids from the local Catholic high school, as they were going to bring pro-life signs. We said we hadn't, but it wasn't long before about two dozen fine young people arrived.
Also joining us were some Bush campaign people, including one young man dressed as the dolphin FlipperSome moms with small children also joined us a little later, and they made pro-life signs.
(get it? Flip flop? Flipper?)One of the guys had a bullhorn, and we regaled the assembled Dems (mostly union) with various chants. Kerry was at least 45 minutes late (emulating Bill Clinton), and we couldn't see him sneak in the back way. At our peak, we had about 40 on our side.
The event was supposed to last from 10:30 a.m. - noon, but it was well after noon before the attendees started leaving. Kerry was taking his time, even though he already was late for his next appearance in Washington, Pa.
Our GOP operatives told us that he's really getting upset at the protesters greeting him wherever he goes, so keep up the good work, freepers and others!CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread(bold and color added by RonDog)

FLIPPING OUT. Democrats once used a person in a chicken costume to stalk former President George Bush during the 1992 campaign. Now, Pennsylvania Republicans are using someone in a dolphin costume to go after presumptive Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry.
The Capitolwire.com Internet site reported last week that Flipper made his first appearance during a recent Kerry rally at the University of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania GOP Committee Chairman Alan Novak promises Flipper will show up regularly at Kerry's Pennsylvania visits.
"John Kerry has flip-flopped his way through this campaign," Novak said. "He has a bad habit of saying one thing and then changing his opinion to appease one particular group or another. America needs a leader, not someone who lacks the conviction to take firm positions on the critical issues facing our nation."
One possible attendee at the Kerry speech is Flipper, a man dressed in a dolphin costume who accuses Kerry of being a "flip-flopper" on the issues. CBS News Steve Chaggaris notes that Flipper made an appearance during a Kerry event in Harrisburg, Pa., on Thursday. "Interestingly, Flipper, who first made an appearance in Palm Beach County on April 19, has his own press folks who sent out a release on his behalf Thursday. 'Flipper to Join Kerry at Harrisburg Visit,'" read the release adding, "(Pennsylvania) Republican State Committee Chairman Alan Novak warned residents of Central Pennsylvania to be on the lookout for a flip-flopping Presidential candidate from Massachusetts,'" Chaggaris reports.

A blessing, and a curse, for Kerry
By Ross K. BakerAmericans would appear to be smitten with celebrities. No longer are the performers of Hollywood and the music world simply stars, but instead "icons," "divas" and even "heroes."What greater benefit could come to a candidate than to have the most famous and adored faces in America lining up to endorse you?
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has managed, even before officially becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, to secure the support of some of the biggest names in screen acting and popular music. At a concert fundraiser tonight in Los Angeles, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond and Willie Nelson will offer their voices for Kerry's cause. Among other glitterati who plan to attend: Billy Crystal, Robert De Niro, Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio.
A New York gala two weeks later will include Whoopi Goldberg and Jon Bon Jovi, among others. The two concerts are expected to rake in at least $10 million for Kerry critical funds in a political duel with President Bush that will shatter spending records.
But the alliance that Democratic candidates have long established with Hollywood has never been more necessary or dangerous. Money is driving presidential politics more than at any time in history, and with an evenly divided electorate, a link to Hollywood or big business, in the president's case could cost a candidate in the eyes of critical "swing" voters.
No Democratic candidate since George McGovern in 1972 has been backed by such star power. Yet, Democrats should be concerned that Kerry, for all of the high-powered show-business talent, might encounter the same attacks made against McGovern. He'll have to defend himself against the accusation that he was the choice of "limousine liberals" and show-business whackos from La-La Land...

Streisand, Diamond to duet for John Kerry
Gala concerts to be held to help the Democratic candidateUpdated: 8:37 p.m. ET June 23, 2004LOS ANGELES - Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond will sing together for the first time in 24 years Thursday, bringing not flowers but millions of dollars for Democrat John Kerrys U.S. presidential campaign.
Streisand, Hollywood's most prominent Democratic supporter, tops the bill in the first part of what organisers are calling one of the most ambitious celebrity political fund-raisers for years - gala concerts on both US coasts featuring a broad array of stage and screen stars.
The Los Angeles concert on Thursday, and a concert in New York July 8 featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthews Band and Mary J. Blige, are expected to raise about $10 million for Kerrys coffers. Ticket prices range from $250 to $25,000 a seat.
The two shows are the biggest political outings by the Democratic entertainment set since early 2003 when actors and musicians joined forces in opposition to the imminent U.S.-led war on Iraq...

Senator John Kerry is likened to a "caged hamster" by The New York Times. I really don't think I can add anything to that, except to note that the behavior described in the article makes the senator come off as a totally clueless dweeb. I am not sure that ...So I was inspired:
That cute cartoon Arnold ringing John Kerry neck I bet with Arnold hands Kerry neck would snap like twig
I am serious
Hey Ron did you hear Al Gore went meltdown
