An American flag is seen through a German bunker at Pointe du Hoc in Normandy, France on Sunday, June 6, 2004. The point, which sits between Utah and Omaha beaches, was taken by U.S. army rangers who scaled the steep cliffs using special climbing equipment on D-Day. The razor wire was installed to keep people off of the eroding coast line.
Thanks for posting...Flag day is Monday, if I remember correctly...;-D
In either 1988 or 1992, the Republican National Convention came first and the theme colors were red, white, and blue. American flags were ubiquitous.
Then came the Democrat convention. The colors were earth tones and on the first day some news anchor mentioned in passing that there weren't any American flags to be seen anywhere.
The Democrats hated America so much, that instead of rushing out to buy flags, they, opted instead to accuse the Republicans of trying to exploit the flag for political purposes. Instead of waving flags they waved placards that said "Republicans don't own the American flag." (same thing they once did with religion when instead of adding prayers to their convention they spouted the slogan "God is not a Republican.)
