I meant that they'll get the backlash, be it from their behavior at the Wellstone funeral or using President Reagan's passing for political gain.
Bill Schneider on CNN said that conservatives had better not appropriate President Reagan's death for political gain, and then CNN ran a film clip of the Wellstone memorial, implying that it would be conservatives who would suffer a backlash of public opinion since the deceased is one of our own, but I think it's more likely that the backlash will be against the left.
Schneider seemed to think, IMO, that it's our turn to face the backlash.
Maybe Bill Schneider should buy a clue.
I don't think that hot dogs and beer are going to be on sale at the Reagan service in the National Cathedral and I don't think that the song "Love Train" will be blasting from the speakers either.
Or, if we sold hot dogs and beer at the National Cathedral, we would deserve backlash.
Or if we BOOED the democrats as they enter the cathedral, we would deserve it.
THAT is what got them the backlash; inviting all democrat speakers would not have done it. It was WHAT those speakers said, how they behaved, and showing those jolly laughing faces on the JUMBOTRON, accompanied by the cheers of the mob.
