ABC just announced :( Ronald Reagan was 93
I went back to my home town for the first time in about 2 1/2 years last weekend where I grew and most of that was during the Reagan years. The area where I grew up is one the fastest grwoing places in the country meaning things change in a heartbeat. It was weird going back this time. Older homes were being replaced with new ones. You hear of people (manily old folks) passing away , getting sick, or moving away and not getting to at least say goodbye to them . I felt like a stranger in my own home town. I was very depressed when I left home to go back to my adopted home town.
When I heard of President Reagan passing and watching the TV coverage, it rekindeld some of the good memories I had while growing up. I grieve for the loss of the President, but, I thank him for making the 1980's one great decade to grow up in.
This is a great set of President Reagan's radio commentaries (from before he ran for president, in the 1970s).
I imagine they're going to sell out pretty quick now.
I, needless to say, loved this great man. He was a tall glass of water in an endless desert. I grieve his passing deeply.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I believe that few people realize just how much the way that war was handled hurt America. It is a wound that never heals. Even the Civil War didn't do that kind of emotional damage. Defeat had never been a part of the American soul. The Rebels were allowed their dignity in defeat by Grant. There was no dignity in the capitulation in Vietnam.
Just by watching you can see him trying to work his digs at reagan. I just skip his show. It is kind of a loss like Fox News Sunday. There is a show that has gone to the dark side. Whoever was put in charge of that show should be fired and fired FAST.

The good news is my daughter knew the truth and spoke out in class (too bad she had to). She added the truth about Ronald Reagan's contributions to ending the Cold War to her papers, exams and course work. Btw, she was born on RR's 72nd birthday.

There is a profound sweetness in grieving ... if our gratitude matches our sorrow, we can grow larger, and the departed inspires us to live larger and more genuine ... I think that is what we can do that might make them the most happy while looking back at us as they cross through Heaven's Gate.

I will miss you Ronald Reagan! You were the first president I remember as a kid. You made the world a better place to live in. You are the reason I am conservative.
