Back when Memphis was trying to land an NFL team, there was a preseaon game between the Rams and Oilers. At halftime, a ceremony was held to recognize those who were part of that effort. Intros all around. The last to be called out through the tunnel was AlBore. All of the cheers suddenly changed to boos. Lasted several minutes. It was one of those Kodak moments. I know, I was there. Even back then, (1985 I think), our "native son" wasn't the crowd's favorite. He needs one of those white wrap-around jackets and taken someplace where he can do the least harm. BTW, when WAS the last time he came "home" to Tennessee?

Do you get the feeling Al Gore is not accepted in respectable company anymore — even among Democrats? Can you imagine Joe Lieberman showing up at a MoveOn.org event, much less giving a speech there? It's the political equivalent of Tom Cruise doing a TV commercial for Preparation H.

I just want to break in on this thread, which must be amusing to some, but does nothing to address the issues of the day. We need to get back to the real issues, the ones affecting our children, our grandparents, our labrador retrievers, and Gaia, our dear endangered planet.
