Well, it's nice you are aware of this stuff too. I guess I'll quit worrying.

Tape a 30-06 round to the top of the page.

For that they would hunt you down like a dog.

Send them a postcard from your new home in a surrounding state, that may make em think ( but I doubt it)

"What would you suggest as an appropriate title that conveys the message that socialist legislation threatens our way of life?"

How about one more adjective to the word alert: WACKO RED ALERT!

All three of the bills we are tracking have moved to the Senate, been read (which means introduced) and are awaiting their committee assignment. I called Senator Oller's office Friday and talked to his staff. They want us to write letters to our Senator and the Governor. I'm going to writing a letter to the editor of the Bee on ab2631, the invasive species bill. I will try to garner some radio play as well. I've started posting these bills to other forums to reach as many as I can.

As for the ping list, I have been using three different lists. The rights farm environment, the short list (which has a general interest use) and the Sac area list. Which one do you want to be on?

If the Sac area list includes the Sierra Nevada, that list will be fine.
Thanks

It does if you are in El Dorado, Placer or Nevada Counties. Adding you.

RE: Letter to Governor (#20 this thread)

I have heard nothing back from the Governor, but I DID get this email (below) back from Tim Leslie's Office, which I thought I might share with you. If nothing else, I am impressed with his PR department - since I am not in his district. No big deal of course, but at least it says SOMEONE in his office is paying attention. Am I 'reading between the lines' correctly if I infer from his response that he might actually *LIKE* to get some more correspondence of the sort he might get from this group? ...perhaps an encouragement to others who might consider writing?

*Farmfriend*, I have no idea how to 'ping' the other threads re this, nor whether it would be a good idea to do that or not, so I will leave it up to you to do whatever else you might deem appropriate with this. (Thanks!!!)
Oh. Is this fight still going on, or...??? Is there something else we should be doing? - More of the same...or...?

Dear ......,

I did receive your earlier letter and thought it was very well expressed. Thank you for taking the time to make the voice of the Sierra heard in this place. We need all the voice we can get!

Sincerely,
Tim Leslie
Assemblyman, 4th District

I talked to Senator Oller's staff. They talked to Leslie about why he sponsored this bill. He is certain that we will get a conservancy, it's inevitable in his opinion, so he authored this bill to help maintain some local control over the beast.

I'm going to try and see if our lobbyist will go talk to the committees once the bills have been assigned. Since I don't have access to State Net anymore I will have to try to find out the hearing dates on the public stuff. Oh joy.
