LOS ANGELES (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union is demanding the removal of a tiny cross that is among historic symbols on Los Angeles County's official seal. The seal "prominently depicts a Latin cross, a sectarian religious symbol that represents the beliefs of one segment of the county's diverse population" and is an "impermissible endorsement of Christianity" by the county government, the ACLU Foundation of Southern California said in a letter to county officials this week. "Under clearly established law, the seal is unconstitutional," the letter said, warning that refusal to remove the cross in a "reasonable time-frame" would cause the ACLU to seek a court order.

The key is we have to have the guts to ignore the judges who agree with ACLU arguments. Mayors, govenors, city managers have to start telling these judges to go to hell.

The City Of Redlands should have fought them in court. It would have been cheaper than settling. The ACLU should have been told to lay its grubby fingers off our nation's heritage.

Oh crap! My name IS David. O'Reilly talked about this on his show yesterday. He was talking with a lawyer that was representing the ACLU on this. She said that the ACLU had a beef with the cross because it was offensive to the average person and violated the First Amendment. The cross is offensive but the Roman goddess is not? WTF? I really think that I am going to lose it if they win this one. They have far too much power and need to be stopped.

What about Corpus Christi, Texas? The name means, "Body of Christ" and I'd like to know why the ACLU isn't trying to mess with THEIR name.
What about St. Petersburg, Florida? St. Louis? There are probably thousands of city names that directly refer to Christianity!
Yet they go after the tiny visible symbol of the cross, it's an offense...

They are just some hired attorneys, and not necessarily deep ones. Take them beyond initial arguments and some will begin to stutter and drool.
Remember, it's a final JUDGEMENT, not a trial.
I really think that I want to start my own nonprofit organization. There obviously is not an organization out there already that is willing to stand up to the ACLU.
Does anyone know of one? Maybe we can hijack it like the RATS hijacked MoveOn.org. They turned that organization from a blip on the map to a household name.
Numbers is what we need. Numbers!! Until enough good people become governors, senators and reps, the name of the game is special interest groups. Is anyone good at rounding up people for a good cause around here?

There are 3-4? Christian legal foundations which counter the ACLU but which are limited in their resources. Most are based in DC, I think. Try and Google but I don't know what keyword to suggest.
