Most of them are physicians? And you're afraid?
I think your paranoia has gottten the better of your situational awareness.
"Wahhabists are better Muslims than you are"
Not quite sure what you mean by that 'you', but I'll tell you that moderate and traditional muslims do NOT look favorably upon the wahhabis. They are a relatively small sect, sometimes referred to as a 'cult' by other muslims.
I read somewhere that around 1960, Wahhabis were largely confined to the Arabian peninsula and were considered somewhat neurotic by the rest of the world's Muslims. But since then, with oil money, they have been very successful propagating their brand of extreme Islam throughout the world. They will kill anyone who disagees with them -- not only "polytheists" (which includes Christians and Jews in their eyes) but fellow Muslims.
The US was worried about the spread of Iranian-inspired Muslim fundamentalism after the 1979 takeover of Iran by the mullahs. That's why we sided with the secular Saddam Hussein (!!) during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s. As it turns out, the brand of Islam sponsored by our "friend" Saudi Arabia has been far more successful and is a much greater threat.
Yeah, no doubt, but in the times we live in, it doesn't help their cause to have some jerk running around bragging about shooting women in their country.
Do I remember this right, aren't our troops in Afghanistan arming and teaching women how to use guns? If so, that's pretty funny. The middle east might be a litte different should he decide to return home.
Very astute. I've been saying much the same thing since 9/11/2001.
Oh man! You must not have been hanging out on some of the Catholic religion threads then. ;-).
I agree with nuconvert's response. At the start of WWII, FDR said that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Organized terror hasn't changed a lot in 70 years; it's just being harnessed in new ways. It's all the same thing. If you feel irrational fear, the extremists can declare a temporary victory over you on the spot.
We won WWII by reacting intelligently to fear. Right now I'm more worried about our own disunity than anything else. Think about that for a minute!
Do you know what safe doses are for all the meds that might be prescribed for you? I will be checking. What about drug interactions? How about NOT telling a patient they have a potentially fatal disease? Just let them die when with a correct course of treatment they could survive.
I say a pound of paranoia is better than an embalming table any day of the week.
In other words, the "safe" Muslims are those who are ethnicly Muslim without being religiously Muslim. It remains to see which side they will choose if a conflict starts between the US and their ethnic brethren
If backpack bombs went off in malls all over "flyover country", I think a certain hostile attitude would develop real fast.
Keep in mind that it's only been 59 years since we nuked Japan, and a bit over a century from when we concluded a campaign that pretty-much exterminated the Native American race in the US. The Muslims mess with us at their own considerable risk
The "fear" speech was his First Inuageral Address. In 1933. He was talking about the Depression NOT our later enemies of WW-2
...Great article. Good on yer!!!
Islam is an inherently evil religion, founded by a power-hungry pediophile. It is the only religion except Satan Worship (its close cousin) that calls IN ITS SACRED TEXT for the violent destruction of all who are not adherents.
Any thinking person who follows this religion either doesn't understand it or is evil. Period.
I am sure there are Satan Worshippers who are very nice people outside of their coven. But if they are not evil then they are not really Satan Worshippers are they?
LOL. Mesoconservative? Is this a ploy to head off the Paleocon posse at the pass?
Skimming his blog I find it difficult to separate him from the neocons.
But, neocon or meso .... I agree with his points.
Thanks for the correction...
Could we clarify this a little? Are we talking about head scarves, per se, here, or does that include the "bhurka" (sp) type garb that that Florida women refused to take off for her driver's license picture (thus making it useless).
I've always wondered, if she was so "religious" that she couldn't remove the garb, why did she need a driver's license?
