Do the Brits still use the SLR automatic rifle? As I recall they're not exactly optimized for bayonet combat. I wonder how many of them needed replacing after that engagement.

They use the SA-80 automatic rifle with 5.56 NATO rounds. A lot of guts and the hats off to them for showing the gutless bushwhackers what they are really up against. Maybe these locals should have stayed home in their tents......

No. The SLR that was in use with UK forces was semi-automatic. We never adopted either the burst or automatic version. The standard service rifle is the SA-80.
