WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Rep. Dr. Dave Weldon (R-FL), a practicing physician, issued the following statement regarding John Kerry’s health care plan:

"President Bush has fought for more health care choices and lower health care costs, but John Kerry's health care plan would shift the cost burden to taxpayers and balloon government bureaucracy.

"John Kerry opposed the President's bill guaranteeing affordable prescription drugs for seniors and has blocked efforts to end the lawsuit lottery that is driving up health care costs. Kerry's standing in the way of medical malpractice reform is good for trial lawyers, but means higher health care costs for all Americans."
