The most likely thing seems to be that Berg was involved with International ANSWER and went to Iraq to try to undermine the war effort on their behalf. His father appears to be active in Left-wing politics; his own anti-war activism was pointed out of Free Republic.
Of course, if this is true he may have met with Al Qaeda in hopes of doing a favor for them. He may have thought that he was going to contribute to the ant-war movement by posing as a hostage.
It didn't work out that way in the end, however.

Make that "anti-war."
I hate typos.

This is getting more and more peculiar. Of ALL the people to have a "link" to, how many do you know that has a "link" to these terrorists? How does his father explain THAT?

His father already is saying it is Bush & Rumsfeld's fault.

I have to admit that when I first heard this guy compared to Rachel Corrie that I was disgusted and thought the comparison was insane. For the first time now, I'm really starting to wonder.

This guy on Fox is either really slow, or has had a few drinks. I think it's the drinks...he sounds drunk. Can't say I blame him being where he is.

It stinks. I don't care how "innocent" it turns out to be. How many people in this country just so happened to have "some" type of "connection" to a 9/11 murderer, then ends up getting his head chopped off?

From the minute this story broke, it didn't pass the smell test.
And I have been beat up over my suspicions of Nick Berg...
I kept asking the question: Who is Nick Berg and What Was He Doing In Iraq?
Man did I get flamed.

This is beyond bizarre. Now we know why Berg may have come to the attention of the Iraqi police...

his own anti-war activism was pointed out of Free Republic. Can you point me to this? I seem to have missed it; the last I saw on FR was that Nick was a Bush supporter.
