Your take is dead on. I am warming up to this scandal. It's still horrible and I wish it had never happened, and I want to see the perps prosecuted. But I'm not as afraid of blowback as I was a week ago.

It was curious when the released prisoner gave his exit interview, where he had been tortured by Saddam and humiliated by a female American GI, and he much preferred the torture.

LS, I'm with you all the way on this. I've said similar things on other threads.

I distinctly remember an article about young Islamo-Whackos in Egypt right after the fall of Baghdad. The reporter went looking for angry men who would be willing to take up Jihad. What he found instead was a group of depressed losers who said that they way that Baghdad Bob mislead them, and the way that Saddam rolled over, was a humilation that they were not sure that they could recover from. Most of the Arab Radicals, first and foremost, have an inferiority complex. Their days of glory are 5000 years in the past, and they know it. Now, the boot up their ass and on their neck is being worn by five-foot tall American Women.

That's why I believe that you won't be seeing many street protests in the Arab World over this one. For obvious reasons, the last thing they want to show their own women is that picture of an Iraqi man on the end of a leash.
