"Moscow will fulfill its obligations to Tehran to the end," That has the potential for being a very ironic statement...

Russia exists to be a burr in our saddle. They have been enabling Iran for decades. We shut down Iraq supplies. Next stop Iran.

As far a terrorism goes, they are almost at a bigger risk of attack than we are.

The Russians will say and do what they want, and we'll do what we must -- which is to bomb Iran's nuclear capabilities to smithereens if and when necessary. ....And what are the Russians going to do about is besides throw a childlike fit, as is their habit?

If America rethinks the alliance, it will be alone. Do you think that America is capable of defeating terrorism on its own?

I wonder whether something can't be done about this. Russia and the United States have a common interest in opposing Islamic terrorism. Russia had a long-standing arrangement with Iraq, but I don't see why their national interest should persuade them to put friendship with the Iranian Mullahs ahead of the U.S. Especially since the Mullahs' hold on power is rather fragile and they risk offending their possible successors.
So what they get out of this is a moderate amount of money. That doesn't really seem worth the potential bad consequences. Bush should put it strongly to Putin that he doesn't appreciate this.

Of course, the Left has weakened this President and Country so much that we can't diplomatically force the Russians not to.

No big surprise from the Russians.

Easy cut off all and every subsidy to Russia... No money, no wheat, no nothing... When they destroy the Nuclear factories in Iran and apologize in front of the UN (Just to make the Dem's) (of course I would love it also), then we reconsider the support but in slow increments.

Perhaps it's time the United States Rethink The Alliance!
The world is going through a period of change(shocking new! NOT) It started with the fall of the old soviet empire. The old alliances are really a relic of a bygone age. For the foreseeable future what we will be having is more of a serise of adhoc temporary alliances where we work together with some nations on certain things(example, We busted a doctor in Oragon today for being part of a terrorist network based on info we got from Spain. A nation that now doesen't support us in Iraq).
We work with Russia to combat terrorism coming from central asia, and we are at odds with them over Iran, Iraq and other issues. I am of the opinion that Russia along with Germany, France(SHOCK!!) have as their longterm goal the removeal of America from Europe as they see themselves as the natural leader of Europe(particularly France and Germany, Russia still wants an empire in the Caucasus and central asia). The problem is Islamic terrorism, They need us to combat it, and we need them to provide intel on the terrorist.
I't my thought(and hope) that some of these adhoc alliances will deepen and become much stronger I'm thinking here the former Warsaw Pact nations, and a arc of nations starting in Turkey and stretching Iran.
Did that make any sense at all? It's really late.
