KERRY CAMPAIGN: tick...tick...tick...tick...tick... Nov 12-15, 1971

Karl Rove knows the facts. He has not yet discussed them. Hillary knows the facts. She has not yet discussed them. John Kerry knows the facts. They scare him to death.

For anyone here who has been asleep, John Forbes Kerry attended a meeting in Kansas City on Nov. 12-15, 1971. Until recently, he denied being at the meeting. There was a very good reason he didn't want anyone to know about the meeting. You see, a few real crazies in the group Vietnam Vets Against the War, actually wanted to assassinate United States senators who were supporting the war. They held a vote in a secret meeting.

Kerry, of course, voted no and then resigned his leadership. But there is no record that he reported a plot to kill senators to any authorities.

This problem of Kerry is sitting and waiting. The problem will surface big time when the time is right. But who will advance it? The GOP or Hillary?

Wow,, is there really record that he actually 'voted' at the meeting? I had just heard he was there. Why didn't he report the group to the FBI if assassinations were being discussed?!

Actually Doug, you can check out more on this story in this article, entitled "Kerry Attended Meeting - But Voted 'No' on Killing Senators

All true, but the mainstream press will spend far more time pouring over Bush's National Guard records looking for dirt than it will ever devote to this story.

You may have continued to follow this closer than I have, but is it really established that he resigned his leadership? Or if he did, did he do it in stealth fashion? I think the Times continued to quote him well after then as a leader in the movement, and evidently Kerry didn't bother to deny it. That would be typical of Kerry's habit of playing everything both ways.

Of course I agree with you on the main point.

doug,

I wish this had legs, but the press is not going to touch it. Kerry is what is called a "misprisoner of a felony" which is a felony since he failed to report the plot against the senators. However, due to the many witnesses, he has changed his tune from "I wasn't there" to "I can't remember being there". So, I guess that is some progress.

I don't know we will ever know all of the facts. Witnesses have said they voted. We can reasonably presume he voted no (perhaps after he voted yes, as he has a habit of doing). It appears to be clear that he resigned at that meeting, not earlier in the year as he had claimed.

I have spoken many times to Tom Lipscomb, the reporter who first broke the story. I've gotten several people, including Kranish of the Boston Globe to write about it.

It hasn't been pushed by Rove yet. He is simply waiting for the right time.

He claims to have resigned earler in writing. But that document does not exist.

Hillary.... She wants Kerry to lose because she thinks it will enhance her chances in 2008. She believes in nothing but her political career. Regardless, her move will initiate further infighting and perhaps a measure of revenge in 2008. I don't care either way. They are irrelevant.

It will have legs at the right time. I may have finally figured out what Hillary is planning. She will take the VP slot. Within 60 days of the election, she will force him out through blackmail. He will claim that his cancer has reappeared and the doctor has ordered him to leave the campaign. She will name Wesley Clark, John Edwards, or Harold Ford as VP. It is a brilliant strategy.

It will depend whether Hillary really wants Kerry to be just a place holder so she can jump in '08 or whether she wants him taken out so she can jump in '04.

She's taking the temperature of the nation daily and the press is doing her many favors in the interim. Because of those FBI files, she is able to blackmail them into submission. Not that they aren't willing anyway given their political leanings.

She has plenty of time to decide whether she believes Bush can be defeated in November. If he can, Kerry will not fall off a snowboard or a bicycle. This time it will be off a building.

Yup. Leaving the conservatives little time to mount a defense against her. Leaving her without having to answer the hard questions.
