You deliberately miss the point, johnfrink. This disgusting incident of mistreatment of prisoners is not an INTERNATIONAL incident. It needs to be dealt with, and scorned, but the President of the United States of America doesn't need to tell King Abdullah of Jordan that he's SORRY. To JORDAN? Can we cut the crap? This isn't an "offense to muslims everywhere?" This is a small scale, reprehensible crime within the context of a war. Please get a grip.
To: Cinnamon Girl
May we have permission to use this as a letter to editors everywhere? This expresses many of our feelings right on the mark!

GREAT essay. I'll be forwarding it to some talk show hosts...
And a note from Pulp Fiction: "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?"

WE ARE NOT THEM.Obviously. There's something wrong with a culture that's applauds the vicious murder of 3,000 innocents, and then gets all bent out of shape because some Baathist thug was forced to wear panties.
The fact that Americans didn't take to the streets ululating with joy about this abuse is evidence enough we're not like them. Screw the apologies -- I've been waiting for 2.5 years for their damn apology.

Don't go to the LA Paper....with the internet, you can respond to editorials around the US....pick one, or two,or three.....smaller papers, in say, Michigan, New York, New Jersey....do it!

Remember this? Remember why we are there? |

This WAR! |
We must remain true to our men who are fighting for the freedom of this country. They have laid down their lives and limbs for the United States of America, and even for Iraq and Afghanistan's freedom. We must remain true to them as they have to us! God Bless our Military. |

If they didn't want to finish this fight, they should not have started it! |

In war it's 'surrender or die' ~ these prisoners have their lives, that is decent enough treatment for the vile murderous thugs that they are and on whose side they have chosen; they fought to kill our most gallant, lionhearted, young men and women. |

There is no ambiguity concerning which side you are on, if you are not for America, then you are against her. We have the military to deal with those who are against us, and to deal with them effectively, that is their job and they do it with excellence. |

We make no apologies for defending ourselves from anyone; least of all Islamicfascists who's hands, hearts and minds, are dripping with innocent blood. ~ take no prisoners. |

YOU MUST BE KIDDING, newbie.....I will NOT apologize for anything....because I DID NOTHING....some idiots pulled a stupid prank and took pictures....take your "moral high ground" and look in the mirror, please. You're a little too full of yourself.

So, in your world we've gone from the nation that holds the moral high ground over people like Saddam and Osama, to the nation that doesn't need to apologize as long as it doesn't do anything worse.Having to apologize to the Muslim world over this incident is like having to apologize to Hannibal Lecter 'cos you sold him a defective paring knife.
To: Beau Schott
Uh, yeah, I remember that. Remind me again what those guys we tortured and killed in the Iraqi prison did to me on 9/11? Cause I'm not really clear on that, and your sanctimonious graphics don't spell it out.
To: johnfrink
Which means, maybe, that the people who did the torturing should apologize to those who were tortured. IF they were tortured. No other American owes an apology to anyone.
Keeping the Bump! alive...

A Danish soldier was reprimanded for pushing an Iraqi prisoner with a rifle, after the Iraqi made an "obscene gesture." I'm sure the Danes will apologize.
Do we really have the will to win this one?
