Note that the 2000 election did not start another Civil War. Think about that.. All it did was lead to the same incessant whining, bitching, and moaning that we'll get tortured by if it happens again or in reverse..

Note that in 2000, the WTC were still standing.

And where is this Muslim menace in the United States?? The Muslim population is only about 3% or something like that and at their rate of growth it would take at least another century to make it to even 10%, if it keeps up.

Really? Take a look.

In 1970 or so, there were about 100,000 moslems in the US. Today there are approximately 3 to 4 million conservatively.

That means in the past 30 or so years, the moslem population has increased 30 times (100 thousand x 30).

If that rate holds, in 30 more years, the moslem population could well be 90 million in this country (3 million x 30).

Math is not my strong point, so if someone can poke holes in this, please do. I really hope I'm wrong.

Take a look at this quote:

In 1974, former Algerian President Houari Boumedienne said in a speech at the U.N.: "One day millions of men will leave the southern hemisphere to go to the northern hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory." In other words, says Fallaci, what Islamic armies have not been able to do with force in more than 1,000 years can be achieved in less than a century through high birth rates. She cites as evidence a 1975 meeting of Islamic countries in Lahore, in which they announced their project to transform the flow of Muslim immigrants in Europe in "demographic preponderance."

Also note that the election of 2004 will be contested and may lead to a constitutional crisis in the US Senate. If this happens, President Bush will exert emergency powers. If this happens... RATS will revolt. Civil War will ensue.

"All truth goes through three stages.
First it is ridiculed.
Then it is violently opposed.
Finally, it is accepted as self-evident."
(Schopenhauer)"

I don't care for this quote.

The same is true for propaganda, lies and misinformation that finally becomes accepted -as- truth. There is no link between what goes through these stages and it's veracity.

Additionally, it's not rare at all to see the actual truth go backwards through those same stages. Many truths we used to hold self-evident were then violently opposed and are now considered self-evidently false. Do I even need to list examples, or do dozens spring to mind instantly as easily for you as they do for me?

The issue in 2004 is the War on Terror, immigration, and the (da da da dum) Patriot Act. The Patriot Act, War on Terror, and Immigration would not be highlighted in the 2004 debate but for the attack in 2001.

I've found that the "Can't happen to me" denial syndrome is often fatal. The results are predictably unexpected.

I'm betting that if one were to warn the peoples of Germany and the USSR of their eventual fates that they would say the same thinng...it can't happen here, not to us.

Folks slam me and my book etc for being an alarmist, a fear monger, etc.

I don't find your book any of those things. I find it tightly written, enormously engrossing and disturbingly plausible.

My goal is to warn America about the storm clouds on the horizon.

Mission accomplished.

And the lifeboats are made of cardboard.

24 - "There is nothing that says that another, crueler, dark age can't fall upon the world once again."

rings as true today as it did in 1959 when it was first published

A Canticle for Leibowitz was the first major American post-Apocalyptic novel. It tells the story of the Monks of the Order of Saint Leibowitz whose holy mission is to preserve what scraps of literature, knowledge and technology that exist in the world after the Flame Deluge (nuclear war) which destroyed Earth's civilization. The monks work tirelessly to preserve these relics of a happier time in the hopes of a spiritual and intellectual Renaissance that sometimes seems like it will never happen, given the world's rabid anti-technology views stemming from anger at the scientists who created the atom bomb which led to the destruction of modern civilization. The story traces the path of Earth's civilization from post-Apocalyptic confusion to the rise of civilization to the point where it destroyed itself once before. Can man overcome his own self-destructive tendencies? What is faith? These are the questions Miller addresses in his classic work full of anger, dark humor and the struggle between good and evil.

Miller's classic story, written nearly 40 years ago and reissued by Bantam in connection with Miller's new sequel, Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman, rings as true today as it did in 1959 when it was first published. Miller's style of writing is unique. Wry, descriptive, engaging and vastly disturbing, Miller's prose hurls the reader into a parallel universe: Earth as it might have been if we had destroyed ourselves with nuclear weapons. The story follows the lives of the Monks of the Leibowitz Abbey from the discovery in an abandoned bomb shelter of the actual relics of Saint Leibowitz, the blueprint and the sacred shopping list, to the struggles of the Monks against the violent warlords who rule the world around them and the dispossessed Papal presence in New Rome. A thoughtful polemic which reads as fresh and current as if it were written yesterday, A Canticle for Leibowitz ranks with Animal Farm and George Orwell's 1984 as a classic work of English literature and of science fiction.

I know every strategem they've ever devised and plenty they haven't. They can be defeated by purely political methods. We are doing so now. In matters of theory, Strauss is the antidote to Gramsci. Knowing the answer and implimenting it effectively are two different things - the second does not follow from the first. But we know how to beat everything they've come up with.

55 - "I think General Franks was correct in predicting that a state of martial law would exist, and parts of the Constitution would be rolled back for immediate survival of the republic. Let's not forget that Lincoln did numerous end-runs around the Constitution for the sake of preserving the union. It could happen again very easily..."

Xlinton put the last pieces in place in 1998 and 1999, so as to prepare for dictatorship for Y2K.

It's all ready to go, for several years now.

Last fall Paul O'Neill, then Secretary of the Treasury, wanted a simple answer to a thorny question: How prepared was the nation today to pay all its future bills? Two government experts worked for months to calculate the answer. Their findings, which shocked even them, were never published—the Bush administration made sure of that. The reason for the silence was that by the time the two researchers had completed their study, O'Neill had been thrown out of the Treasury and replaced by the more politically astute John Snow. No savvy administration power player would dare point out, right in the middle of tax-cut season, that there was a huge hole in the country's finances—a $44 trillion hole.

That's the kind of Washington tactic that makes Larry Kotlikoff angry. So angry, in fact, that the normally composed and carefully spoken academic starts ranting about a government conspiracy to keep us all in the dark. He even refers to this particular episode as "the great Treasury cover-up." And once you start Kotlikoff on the subject, it's hard to stop him. "I hate politicians," he says, without pausing for breath. "These people are so...

If we wiped Mecca and Medina and all capital cities of the Islamic world off the map would that win the war?

YES!

I would have done it after 9-11. Bush is merciful.

This bears repeating:

"When your opponents lack the price of admission to civilized debate: a respect for reason, belief in objective truth, and a willingness to admit they're wrong when the facts prove it so - what then? When your opponents' goals are to destroy the very foundation of your culture and your society - and to offer nothing in return but the howling nightmare of a society of cannibals and looters - what then? When your opponents seize and indoctrinate your children's' minds in the politics of victimization and the nobility of human servitude and sacrifice - what then? When the institutions of higher learning are occupied by Marxist multiculturalists who despise the very philosophical foundation upon which the architecture of liberty and human dignity can be constructed - what then?"

Awesome comments.
