Please do not be alarmed. The fact that there are 1000 of these UNGUARDED WMD ingredient storehouses sitting unmanned and alone in the northern wastes of Russia should be of no concern to us.

Yeah, no reason to be alarmed. And anyway, any WMD-armed terrorists would have a near-impossible time getting through our tight border security.

The radioactivity of an RTG at the distance of 0.02 to 0.5 meters is 800 to 1000 roentgens per hour. Natural background is around 10 microroentgens per hour. 500 roentgens in 5 hours is a lethal dose for humans. (cribbed from Wikipedia)
Nasty stuff...but not the easiest thing to handle.

Thank you. I was momentarily startled....I guess sitting here within spitting distance of the Mex border is cause enough considering that the parade across the border has reached epic porportions.

Cops in Turkey yesterday unveiled a huge arsenal of weapons and explosives found stashed in preparation for a terror doomsday.
They are convinced the target was next months Nato summit in Istanbul.
And they believe the aim was to wipe out the Wests commanders of the War on Terror in an outrage that would dwarf the impact of September 11.

There is a reason these core were left at the site. These things are extremely radioactive: 1000 Roentgens per hour. 400 Roentgens is about the most anyone can take and survive so that gives you about 25 minutes of quality time with these things before your dead and about 15 minutes before your really sick.

Criminy I want one of these for the house. Let them seal it in reinforced concrete and rebar with a pair of wires coming out of it. It's perfect for taking yourself off the grid.
