Hope you were able to settle your mom down. Mine is pretty controlling also (and it is controlling when they make you NOT go or feel quilty when you go to something). I am prolly double your age & still deal with it with my mom. I found a statement I make to my mom is:
"Mom, i may or may not be making a good decision. But it is my decision and as an adult I am prepared to live with the consequences. I plan to be safe & have a good time. If God has other plans, so be it. "
She doesn't like it but gives her a rational statement to consider.I live with her in her home as her caregiver & I find the struggle of respect vs autonomy always present
