Good on you Pippin for deciding to go! As Lady X said--do it for all of us who live in the sticks and can't go. I live for FReepers after-the-freep reports and pictures.

Again, have a safe trip and we'll be looking for your excellent report! And have FUN while you're at it. See ya when you get back...

Go. Reminds me of "it's the dash that counts." On your tombstone it has the year you were born and the year you die. But the dash between is what counts.

Run along and have a good time for the rest of us hicks stuck in the sticks!

Hang in there Lakeside. You will continue to lose, though more slowly, even with the meds. My hubby has the same problem. He's on the meds that interfere with the weight loss, but he is still losing slowly.

There are so many new products out now that satisfy that sweet tooth. Bryer's Ice Cream has a low carb ice cream in several flavors and it's good. I make a delicious dessert with sugar free jello. Soften a package of cream cheese and whip with a carton of Cool Whip, add sugar free jello that is only partially set and blend well. Pour into a rectangular pyrex dish and chill. It's easy and delish. I like the orange jello because the dessert tastes like orange dream cycles. Another favorite of mine is putting frozen blueberries in the blender with heavy whipping cream and blend until the berries are all ground up. This is sort of like a sorbe and very good for you. Then there's always the new Russel Stover low carb candy.

I'm hanging in there with Atkins. It IS working (albeit slowly) when another I had been successful with before meds no longer worked. I knew when I started on my present treatment that weight gain was a possibility I started on that other diet. No go--I was gaining at an alarming(for me at least!) rate. I started Atkins with a discouraged attitude but lo & behold, it worked but veerrry slowly. At first it just stabilized my weight gain(I had gone from 120 to 148 in just a few months. Every time I went to the dr. which was every two weeks I had gained more.eek!)to where I wasn't gaining any more. Then the pounds began to melt away. I never carbo craved but, like I said, craved & still crave sweets.

Thank goodness for Splenda! And thank *you* for the encouragement and the yummy sounding jello recipe. I *shall* try it.Frozen berries with a bit of Splenda have been my mainstay so that berry "sorbet" sounds great--right up my alley. I've also concocted my own chocolate hot cereal(ground flax, soy protein, wheat bran, with a little oat bran and wheat germ mixed in with a pinch of salt. Then 2 heaping teaspoons of cocoa,4 pkts. Splenda. Mix with scant 1/4 cup whipping cream and 1/3 cup boiling water. Top it with frozen raspberries and YUM)

But even so I could eat a Krispy Kreme donut "before quick"! I don't,though.Like I say--I've *got* to get my weight down---I can't afford new clothes! Hope you & yours have a great weekend! Thanks again for your encouragement---'preciate it!

Howdy ! I'm playing catchup this morning. My Dad came up yesterday afternoon and stayed over. Being the 'early bird' type, I'm up as usual here. We're going to my aunt's house later this morning. Her birthday is tomorrow but she's got family coming over today. Guess it's a birthday lunch/wing-ding.

I saw your post #68 about the DC Freep and then happily found you'd posted your subsequent 'final answer' here on 72. Yay ! Enjoy your day in Dee-Cee and I look forward to seeing the pics here.

Living Peacefully

Read: Genesis 26:14-22

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. —Romans 12:18

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 10-11; Luke 21:20-38

Isaac lived among the Philistines, who proved to be ornery neighbors. He had grown so rich and powerful that they feared him and asked him to leave their territory. Being "much mightier" than they (Genesis 26:16), Isaac could have refused, but he acquiesced and moved into a nearby valley where his father Abraham had dug some wells years before.

The Philistines had stopped up the wells after the death of Abraham. Each time Isaac reopened a well they claimed it for themselves, even though they had not been using it. They were just being contentious. But Isaac kept moving on till he entered an area where the Philistines no longer contested his right to the water.

I've encountered people like that. When my brothers and I played catch as young boys, we had to be very careful about our throws, because the neighbor would confiscate any balls that went into his yard.

It's difficult to like such people, but Jesus went so far as to say that we must love them, pray for them, and be good to them (Matthew 5:44). It may not be easy, and those ornery persons may not change. Yet, according to Romans 12:18, we must still do all we can to live peacefully with everyone. —Herb Vander Lugt

We know there will be times of stress
With people who must have their way;
But we should always choose to love,
To live at peace, and for them pray. —D. De Haan

Try to live at peace with others even though they want to fight with you.
