This is the bottom line:
"But people need to know, we're working -- we, the government, at all levels -- we're working long hours to protect America. We're doing the best we can. The best way to secure America, however, is to stay on the offensive and bring those people to justice before they harm America again. And that's what we're continuing to do. But, yes, so long as there's an al Qaeda enemy that is willing to kill, we are vulnerable. "

Q Mr. President, as you know, a lot of critics suggested that you wanted to appear jointly with the Vice President so that you two could keep your stories straight, or something -- What a dopey question from the, natch, CNN guy.

"look, if we had something to hide we wouldn't have met with them in the first place"
Did that make anyone else wince? You can bet that some will make hay with that line

Mr. President, as you know, a lot of critics suggested that you wanted to appear jointly with the Vice President so that you two could keep your stories straight, or something So is this why Clinton appeared with Lindsey and Berger also?
To: QQQQQ
Q I'm hoping for an answer today. THE PRESIDENT: I've got the same answer.

I give the President credit for entertaining these media clowns...and keeping his cool in the process.

Hey, hey, hey! I like clowns. At least they're funny. These guys are more like mentally impaired jackals.

Pardon my ignorance, but I need an answer to a question ? When Clinton and Gore testified before the 9/11 commission - were either of them under oath ?
A reputable link would be appreciated...
Thanks...

Hey!(whack) Pay attention kid, or it will be clown-school for you!

None of this means anything. The mere fact that Bob Kerrey and Lee Hamilton walked out on the President and Vice President of the United States is reason enough that this 911 Commission be abolished with full shame brought upon all of its failure members. All ten members are totally useless! After today and all the bunk that has preceded today's session, the majority of the American people will not believe one word of their report.

I don't think the President should have spoken so glowingly of this partisan commission. Of course he can't state the obvious, but he could have implied it. He could have thanked Lee Hamilton for taking time out of his busy schedule to partially attend in spite of his extremely important meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister.
To: plain talk
Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Kerrey have doomed the 911 Commission with their own actions. I would have loved for the President to stick it to these traitors, but he handled it just right! The media, even though they hate GW will do the commission in. They cannot ignore the premature walkout on a commission investigating the one murderous attack on our country and citizens. That is what the Democrat Party is all about, TREASON!
To: JLAGRAYFOX
The media, even though they hate GW will do the commission in Well I'm still waiting for CNN and Fox internet news to report in a headline or sub-headline that these two bozos walked out of Bush's meeting with them.
I also saw this at the CNN site:
The Justice Department has also released documents on its Web site about Jamie Gorelick -- a Democratic member of the commission who served in the Justice Department under President Clinton -- and her role in developing a legal "wall" on the sharing of intelligence information.
At the White House, spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush was "disappointed" by the release of the documents. "That's what the Justice Department did; we were not involved in it," McClellan said. He added that Bush expressed his disappointment to the commission. "The president does not believe we ought to be pointing finger during this time period," McClellan said.
Looks like the President wants to play nice. :-(

Actually, my girlfriend was making a big deal about Bush not being under oath tonight. Is this even an issue? I've heard it mentioned on the news, but nobody seemed to be really complaining, least of all the commission.
