Does anyone recall hearing in the past that "algae" (both oceanic and landbound) killed so many animals and aquatic life? Just about every animal in the country appears to be endangered by some type of pathogen or virus (birds, chickens, horses, dogs, cats, deer, elk, moose, buffalo, porpoises, shrimp. whales, cattle, otters, fish) Many of these animals are part of our food chain. Imported fruits and vegetables may be the bi-product of poor sanitation procedures. Then there are recalls on food products processed within our own country for various reasons (most not good). Topping that with disease affecting our own fruits (including bananas) and vegetables (vine types), what will be left for us?

Potato Disease

Wheat Diseases

I've heard about red tide for many years- but never about "algae" or strange lichen poisoning land animals.

The 19 cattle dying for no known reason is troubling- blamed on some kind of "jelly" near a well-head?

I really don't know what to think.

Incidentally, I read a book recently about the relationship between US biowarfare research at Plum Island, and it's relationship to Lyme disease suddenly "erupting" in Old Lyme, Ct. in the mid 70's.
