Hang in there, when you see a really good auroral show it will be worth all the sleepless nights spent hunting. The fall seems to be the most active time. I have been fortunate enough to spend the last 3 spring through fall seasons in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan, near Mackinac Bridge. This is the "Sweet Spot" for auroras in the CONUS. During that time I became a connoisseur of auroras. It's actually pretty easy to distinguish whether the aurora is a result of a CME or high speed solar wind by the way it looks. High speed solar wind causes a wave effect, it looks like waves moving on a lake. CME auroras are much more spectacular, with reds and greens with large spikes and more "curtain" effect.

With all the weird celestial events that are expected this year, it may be a good one for sky gazing.

As I have been doing different searches I have started to notice what I call a "financial creep of Islamic ownership" of different companies and special treatment for Islamic financial concerns (like the special Islamic no-interest home loans). I will post these as I find them.

The following ownership I find particularly interesting/troubling....let me know if anyone else feels the same...I am all for capitalism but Islamic ownership of the largest Medicare Home Healthcare Provider in the United States!!! The tie between the government and medicare and funding, etc. If an Islamic company owns the largest Medicare provider do they abide by Islamic laws Sharia, etc. or are they beholden to the U.S. Judeo/Christian standards?

First Islamic Affiliate to Bid for TLC - UAE Khaleej Times - 04/05/2004

DUBAI - First Islamic Investment Bank E.C. has announced its affiliate, TLC Holdings I Corp, has been selected as the winning bidder for the assets of Tender Loving Care Health Care Services, Inc. TLC Holdings has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire TLC's assets.

The financial closing is expected to take place within the next few months. The total value of the transaction is expected to be in excess of $150 million, including the assumption of certain liabilities at closing. TLC is the second largest provider of home healthcare services, as well as the largest Medicare home healthcare service provider, in the United States. Crescent Capital, First Islamic's wholly owned US subsidiary, acted as agent for TLC Holdings.

Atif A. Abdulmalik, First Islamic's Chief Executive Officer, said: "TLC is positioned to capitalise on several dominant trends in the United States, namely, an ageing population and an increasing focus on health and well-being."

Mohamed A. Nooruddin, Executive Director, Investment Placement, said: "TLC's broad national presence and reputation give it a unique competitive advantage over other US-based home healthcare providers."

A little TLC goes a long way. Spun off by staffing agency Staff Builders (now ATC Healthcare), Tender Loving Care Health Care Services provides home health care services and staff from nearly 60 offices in more than 20 states (about a quarter are franchise offices).

Tender Loving Care offers disease management; cardiac care; pulmonary and wound management; infusion therapy; respiratory therapy; hospice support; patient and family counseling. Medical software company Med Diversified bought the company in 2001 as part of its expansion into home health services but lost the company in Chapter 11 reorganization to Crescent Capital Investments. The company is in Chapter 11 reorganization. Link Here

This is the story that should be plastered on the news instead of the alleged "torture".

Didn't this story of pic's of Iraqi prisoners break once before earlier this year? For some reason I have a feeling it's been held for a time when it would be most damaging.

It really is infuriating what is happening to ALL of our personal information. In the wrong hands they could bankrupt every person whose data they have. And, nothing makes me madder than trying to have a conversation with someone who is illiterate in the English language. In California that will happen 9 times out of 10 even without outsourcing problems.

Good for you, let us know if you discover other outsourced companies, we will follow and cancel them too. I don't have At&T thankfully.

I agree with you wholeheartedly SP2BF. No one even wants to hear about the true evil. It's completely amazing to me.

I am also angry.

You'll be surprised at who they own, the people who work for them, and those on the advisory board.

Their current investments include:

This should have it's own thread all4one, with a freep request. Everyone needs to let them know (fax e0mail any means possible) we are on to them and will not EVER use their service. They may be in chapter 11 now, but if everyone works together they will be GONE.

Home Healthcare no less. TLC my rear!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, I have turned OFF the news, I cannot stand to hear about the poor Iraqi prisoner story any more. What happened to the fight in Karbala, what about the explosion in Greece, what about the threat in Germany, what about the fires in Ca, what about the flight 200 threat, where is the followup on the Tanzanian with ***fake id's*** who made the threat to Westwood what is happening in Fallujah? There's a lot more. I will watch here to see if any real news is on.

Just reading their site now....unbelievable. I will be searching soon to see if they have a board of directors and who is on their board. There is also a web site that was posted on FR last month that I will find....the site lets you put in a name or zip code and it lists all political contributions. Also checking the First Islamic Bank's site. While the media keeps the sheeple in a quandry over pictures of terrorists....major transactions that could affect thousands of Americans are taking place.

More detailed info. on their holdings....

-- Cirrus Industries, Inc. ("Cirrus") is the second largest manufacturer of single-engine, piston-powered, general aviation aircraft in the world.

--Based in Plano, Texas, American Pad & Paper LLC (“Ampad”) is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of nationally branded and private label paper-based office products in the estimated $5.1 billion North American paper-based office supplies industry.

--Founded in 1968, B.R. Lee Industries, Inc. ("Lee Industries") is the leading manufacturer of commercial paving equipment in North America. LeeBoy pavers are used to pave city, country and two-lane roads, driveways, golf cart paths, parking lots, walking paths, and private roads.

--Transportation Safety Technologies, Inc. ("TST") is a manufacturer of specialty electrical components and safety products for the truck, utility, and emergency vehicles industries in the United States. One of TST's most promising products is the Eagle Eye obstacle detection system ("ODS"). Eagle Eye is a vehicle safety aid designed to detect objects from multiple locations around a vehicle, thus eliminating "blind spots". Additional TST product lines include under-vehicle safety lighting, electrical control systems, and wire harnesses.

--Smart Document Solutions, LLC ("Smart") is a leading provider of medical records release of information ("ROI") services in the United States, processing over 700,000 pages of medical records per day. Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, Smart is the oldest and largest company in the medical records ROI industry, with an estimated 16% share of the $650 million market.

From the Crescent site:

"Social Responsibility All of our investments must adhere to Islamic principles and codes of conduct. Similar to a "green fund", Crescent does not invest in certain industries, such as those involving gambling or alcohol. We are also generally restricted from participating in most financial services businesses. Crescent is free to invest in other industries with solid companies."

Not being paranoid or anything, but every one of those companies could, if they wanted to, use what they manufacture or provide as service to hurt us. Either by poisons, chemicals or theft of id information.

Dump truck stolen from lot (CA)
Bobcat, truck missing from Manteca business

MANTECA -- Thieves broke into the Aqua Pool & Spa lot in Manteca and drove off in a red dump truck, police said.

At about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies responded to the business, at 9801 E. Moffat Blvd., and found that thieves had opened the locked gate and driven off with the dump truck, sheriff's spokeswoman Nelida Stone said.

Attached to the dump truck was a black, eight-wheeled trailer carrying a white bobcat tractor with an attached front loader. The dump truck is a 1998 Volvo model with the words "Aqua Pool & Spa" on the sides in white lettering and the number "118" in black lettering. The license plate number on the truck is 9D40155.

The trailer is a 1996 Towmaster flatbed model, license plate number 1VZ2256. The bobcat is a model 963 Skid Steer.

Anyone with any information about the theft is asked to call the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department at (209) 468-4400.

Wow, you described exactly my experience with these people.
I'm not sure they are genuine. They will not send a bill, they have very heavy
accents, and refuse to quit calling when told to do so. I've managed to teach
them a few choice words in the process however. ;>)
