A high-profile Latina activist upset over a series of deportations involving young, undocumented Phoenix residents was caught Thursday trying to smuggle two of them back into the United States from Mexico in the trunk of her car, officials said. Ana Lizabeth Roman de Harvey, 40, of Phoenix, was charged Friday with felony alien smuggling and a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to make illegal entry, according to Roger Mair, a spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection in Tucson.

Where do start quoting on this one?

A 40 year 'high'-profile' activist who was an illegal herself at one time, and she puts a pair of Mexican illegals (who had been bounced out of the U.S. a few months earlier) in the trunk of her car.

Ahr said all of the youths had gang ties and were removed as part of ongoing efforts to deport undocumented gang members.<.i>

At Monday's meeting, Roman de Harvey and members of the Hispanic community accused the government of engaging in racial profiling.

Noooooooooo, I have to stop myself from profiling blacks, asians, and whites in America to wonder if they might be illegal. It's the 50% rise in my local Texas area in the last ten years that concerns me. They speak Spanish and are not black, asian, or white so I'm supposed to draw no conclusions.

[She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the felony charge.]

Post 9-11, she should receive 50 years in prison, forget the fine (we are, after all, compassionate). I can't wait to hear the 9-11 FiasComission recommend this.

She went there and connected up with these two, on purpose. Was probably getting schtupped by the 20 year old.

"Pretext of gang activity..." Ok, so we have a group of illegal immigrant gang-bangers... and we should smuggle them into the country..

Right,,,,

"My client has been an upstanding and well-known activist and member of the Phoenix community for many years," Tucson attorney Michael Harwin said in a prepared statement. "My client is confident that the United States District Court and the United States Attorney will treat her fairly."

Upstanding? What a joke!. She has probably been encouraging, aiding and abetting for years. She just hadn't been caught before.

Rest assured that we will treat her fairly. You can ask her in about 5 years.

When an Ohio naturalized citizen was found to be a former Nazi war criminal, I believe they took away his citizenship. If true, that same logic might be applied in this situation.

At what point do we get serious about the laws on the books? Do we have a nation of laws, or do we sort of wing it and different localities interpret their versions on the fly... sort of like Communist China?

Take away her citizenship. She obviously has no allegiance to America. Her allegiance is south of the border.

Every time you turn around, one of these open borders maroons has there whatnots dangling in the wind and the system just let's them cop a walk instead of chopping them off.

I have this recurring wetdream in which sanity and logic have been temporarily restored. Anyone caught aiding, abetting, or hiring illegal aliens ends up in an orange jumpsuit and residing in a tent city without so much as a cheap fan here in Cochise County. They live on MREs that are within minutes of their expiration date and water straight from the San Pedro River.

Their days would be spent under the hot Arizona sun cleaning up the trash that illegal aliens leave in their wake. If there is a scarcity of trash (go figure), they can repair the property damages caused by illegal aliens. Or they could be yoked in teams and used to drag abandoned smuggler vehicles to the impound yard.

I'd love to see this dingbat wench in bright orange, with no makeup, trying to hold a steel plate in place as another section of the Tortilla Curtain is welded into place. On second thought, let her have cheap mascara -- the sweat and tears would make it look funny.

Put her in jail. Five years. And make her pay the fine.

It gets even better...

Ramon de Harvey, the girlfriend of Phoenix Assistant Police Chief Silverio Ontiveros, was facing federal felony charges, five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

She pleaded guilty to attempting to sneak the brothers into the country and faces a year of probation.
