I don't like the general formulation, "the media." The nexus of the problem is the pseudo-objective perspective of journalism.Pseudo-objective journalism - often called "the media" - has an obvious 800-lb gorilla in the living room which it demands that we ignore when it calls objective - but openly disposed to conservatism - talk radio "right wing." That gorilla is the negative, superficial quality of the criteria (e.g., "If it bleeds it leads" and "there's nothing more worthless than yesterday's newspaper") which "objective journalism" applies to the facts in order to select and prioritize "The News." Criteria which inherently ignore the long run benefit of virtue and emphasize the short-run reasons to take the easy way out of any given situation.
The Gorelick membership on the commission is starting to stink like a 3-day-old fish. If (as I fully expect) Gorelick stays on the commission, talk radio is going to destroy the commission.
The Clintons will be happy with that, since the report was going to be critical of them.
