60 MINS/CBSNEWS TO ADD DISCLAIMER TO WOODWARD INTERVIEW:
Drudge Report ^

Next Sunday, CBS NEWS and 60 MINUTES will feature a long interview with Bob Woodward, whose soon-to-be-released book PLAN OF ATTACK reportedly will contain important new details about the administration's decision to go to war against Iraq.
But this time, even though 60 MINUTES Executive Producer Don Hewitt still argues that he does not believe it is necessary to do so, CBS will acknowledge that its parent company owns the book and will profit from any and all sales!
"I'm doing it from here on out, only because of the brouhaha about it," Hewitt tells Sunday editions of the NY TIMES.
The DRUDGE REPORT was first to raise the VIACOMCBSSIMONSCHUSTER issue in connection with a previous cross-promotion launch at CBS.
Blindsided by a controversy over its corporate ties to the publisher of Richard Clarke's book, 60 MINUTES now promises that it will not happen again.
But Hewitt tells NYT Bill Carter he was not aware Clarke's book was even owned by Hewitt's very own company.
Hewitt said he did not know Clarke's publisher FREE PRESS was part of SIMON & SCHUSTER.
"Who the heck was Free Press?" Hewitt explains.
The Woodward interview is already taped and it will "make big news," Hewitt predicted.
He has scheduled it at special length, two sections of the program, the same amount of time given to Clarke's book.
Hewitt: "There are quid pro quo deals made for interviews with book authors. We never do them. I think SIMON & SCHUSTER is smart enough to put their books where they can do them the most good."
NYT Carter does not dare ask Hewitt how many shares he owns of VIACOMCBSSIMONSCHUSTER.

LOL. Note to Mr. Hewitt: Even I knew that Free Press was a division of Simon & Shyster.

You can't expect a journalistic entity to read the sub-headings.
You have set the bar too high and are being unreasonable, I'm afraid.

Why is any conservative watching this network? To see the lies they are telling to their viewers, so we can counter those lies.

Its getting harder for the Lib/Dims to do their slime on the tube and in the print media. Due to loss of revenue, circulation, and credibility.
So the new vehicle of choice...books. Followed by news splash to sell the books. The incestuous relationships are a obvious and a quite damming technique when exposed.
You can bet when caught they will deny, deny, deny.

I suspect this book was written precisely because Woodward had been supportive of the president in the past and that CANNOT be allowed to stand.

Actually, I do that with many programs. I don't watch and then just scan the posts on FR.I do the same thing. Actually, FR has become my primary source for news.

Supposedly there's at least one anti-Bush book scheduled to come out each month between now and the election. I sure hope there's a public backlash against all this piling on.

I bet you if we find that live thread from Clarke's appearance on 60 Minutes that within the first 100 posts SOMEBODY has posted the CBS connection.

It gets better. Check out post #19. Apparently, it required exhaustive research for Hewitt to discover that Free Press is owned by Viacom - he would have had to read the ENTIRE Free Press logo.

Oh, good idea!
They could also put up a little blurb saying that for the past two weeks, every media yapper, DNC flunky and Richard Clarke have been MISQUOTING Bob Woodward's book Bush at War concerning Bush "not carrying about bin Laden" and that Woodward NEVER came out of the woodwork to correct them.

Heck, I was posting about that two or three days before it aired - the only suspense was about whether CBS would reveal the corporate connection or not. As it turns out, over the last two years, 60 Minutes has run six segments about books. Five were Simon & Schuster publications - and the S&S connection was not mentioned once. But Hewitt would have us believe that some marketing exec in Viacom isn't calling him up and telling him to run 60 Minutes segments on S&S books.

NEWS FOR SALE: CBS PUSHED BOOK IT OWNS; '60 MINUTES' DID NOT REVEAL PARENT COMPANY'S FINANCIAL STAKE IN CLARKE PROJECT
CBSNEWS did not inform its viewers last night that its parent company owns and has a direct financial stake in the success of the book by former White House terror staffer turned Bush critic, Dick Clarke, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

"...Woodward is another partison hack doing grunt work for the Kerry campaign..."
I continue to believe that the Clintons are behind all of this, John Kerry will (for whatever reason) NOT be the democratic prez nominee, and Hillary Clinton will fill the void (so to speak).
