committed to racing and those who were
involved in racing. He was basically belittling the sponsors, owners, etc. who never strapped themselves into a car and hurtled around the track at Daytona at 200+ miles per hour.
Sounds to me that if J.R. Ewing weren't lifting quotes from someone else, he would be about as good a wordsmith as Patrick Ewing.
