These shotgun shells are simple Flechette shells, sometimes used by the Isreali Army, but most countries don't use them because they don't work real well.

Something tells me we're not getting the whole story here -- even in New England, a single shotgun and a case of flechette ammunition does not constitute a "cache". For that, you'd need at least the shotgun, plus a 10-22 and a couple of bricks of .22 lr.
